I have 2 printers, an inkjet 5550C, and a Color Laserjet, HP1510ni, or something like that. Both HP printers.
I had the toner for the HP but hadn't installed it. When my 5550C ran out of ink, I switched to the HP.
Quality-wise, it does make good prints, I have to admit that.
But what is striking is the number of Sample Color pages it prints out.
Of course, these pages use a lot ink/ toner. And that is one of HP's most profitable product areas - replacement ink & toner for all their printers.
It's sometimes cheaper to buy a new HP printer, than to buy an ink re-fill, depending on where you shop.
I try to use Carrot Ink or one of the other discount ink places, so as to not get reamed by HP.
But now that I have a few square feet of sample pages that I never told the printer to print out, I have to wonder - is HP so desperate for profits that they program their printers to kick out extra sample pages ?
As the US Economic Desperation Index ratchets up, I have to wonder.
