The Royal Canadian Mint launched the coin in 2007 to showcase its production facilities and steal the entry in the Guinness Book of Records for the world's biggest gold coin. That title had previously been held by the Austrian mint, who in 2004 produced fifteen 100,000-euro coins weighing 1,000 troy ounces to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its best-selling Philharmonics coin.

i don't understand the original post.

it probably took the guy 15 minutes to register & post. i don't think anybody on this board is from South Africa.

if you're in North America - bid on gold in South Africa ? not going to happen.

i figure mis-guided commercial spam, or maybe it was for political reasons - someone doesn't like G-S.us.

We shouldn't discriminate. bid4gold was a massive contributor to this forum. His one post was huge. Nobody should be banned after such a long history with the forum.

Imagine that.

We can't have a guy banned after one post? WTF?

Ban the trolls who have a 1000 posts, and maybe this forum will stretch her legs finally. And be free.

My two bits. This forum needs to be unleashed. She's held down right now. Until then, we'll all watch this forum rot. We'll watch as many more valued members leave.

Ship of fools?

perhaps, in the same way that the US gov. honors all the leaders they have assassinated by putting their pictures on coins, and naming airports, schools, and boulevards after them,

Canada does something similar. they stole the land from the Indians. now they put the Indians' picture on coins.

if that is Indians. hard to tell. mountains in the background, waves in the foreground.

BUT THE MAIN THING IS - IT'S GOLD !

but not fractional. any transaction with this 10 kg piece will be reportable.
