NATIONAL PARKS: Lawmaker introduces bill to create a National Park on the moon

Tourists may not be able to travel to the moon yet, but Rep. Donna Edwards wants to make sure that when they do, they can visit a national park.

The Maryland Democrat introduced a bill yesterday to establish the Apollo Lunar Landing Sites National Historical Park -- a move that would add the moon to the National Park Service's repertoire.

Under the bill, the Interior secretary would be required to complete a "general management plan" for the park with the NASA administrator. The two agencies would then jointly oversee the park, with NASA managing access to the park "through coordination with other space-faring nations and entities."

It was mapped out well before the 1980's. And why not? There is just as much sun light on it as the side affixed to the earth.
