there is some merit to letting trolls expend their time, for zero pay.

if i were designing forum software i would extend the 'ignore' feature so that we don't even see the posts of someone we've put on ignore. but they see the whole thread. so, they spend all their time posting, thinking that people are reading their posts.

i think that's one of the best ways to deal with a troll. to just let them expend their time thinking they are doing effective advertising, when they're talking to thin air. a few weeks of that, especially if they're pure-commission salespeople, and they will find a different avocation.


that makes me wonder about a troll like Spot Eagles.

if he had any sense, he knew he wouldn't sell anything here. yet he chose to spend a few hours of his time posting.

that makes me wonder if it was a JIDF troll, 'cloaked' so to speak. they get paid to troll by the hour, or by the thread. i.e., they get paid in some way that doesn't depend on us buying their shit.
