A highly influential economics professor (Glenn Ford) must pay the price for having been a member of a fraternity which was a front for a powerful cult/secret society. It could ruin his life and destroy his family. Starring Glenn Ford, Dean Jagger, William Conrad.

This previously lost film from 1970 lives on in this old print discovered a few years ago. Efforts at staging a re-make have fallen flat though the apparent audience interest is evident.

people doubt this kind of stuff but it's 100% how things work. In the UK and Australia it's called the Old Boys network. It is alive and well. I sometimes wonder where I would have ended up if I had of taken this path. Glad I didnt but well it's been offered, more than once. Also they do kill people. Thats the only bit of unrealism in the movie. The main guy would have been dead long before this story got up a head of steam. Of course you would have no story if that happened. One day, when I don't care about the consequences anymore, I might have to write a book. Consequences huh, bloody consequences.

I thank PatColo for his enthusiasm and effort, but in truth, this movie strikes me as a dud.

its a made for mid day television movie for sure. Nothing too exciting, not a hitchcock movie or a Die Hard. Its a psyco thriller. What it does do very well is depict how those kind of networks operate. Civilised conversations between educated men at country clubs that enforce the unspoken pecking order of old boy networks. White collar gang bangers. What happens when you start getting cold shouldered and things suddenly shift under your feet if you are on the receiving end. You might not ever know you are being targeted, that opportunities are being closed down for you.

Where they are useless basically as money since they are only good to spend in the USA.

That is why the Governments are dependant upon credit currently.

I saw "Brotherhood of the Bell" when it came out on TV over forty years ago. Glenn Ford is excellent, as he usually is. The surprise for me was William Conrad's (of "Canyon" fame) portrayal of a loud-mouthed TV talk show host who persuades Ford to go on his nationwide TV show and tell his story, implying that he, William Conrad, would give him a straight shot at it, but, when the show began, William Conrad pulled every shyster trick to humiliate Ford as some kind of kook. Willaim Conrad was more after audience ratings than seeking the truth. Conrad's portrayal of this despicable character is top notch acting, which is also par for William Conrad.

This movie left me with a very bad taste in my mouth - I worked for a very large company that usually was straight arrow with the customers and employees, but, every once in a while, I'd run into something so out of whack, and usually at the higher levels, that I identified with the movie as a method of telling we the common folks that there are "clicks" up there that have enough power, kept hidden usually, that are ready to punch and shove to get their way whenever the need arises.

You see, in this movie, that the upper click is not ALL encompassing, though, because there is a big shot college administrator who comes to Ford's aid, and, although Ford is suspicious at first (he came to believe that the click was EVERYWHERE), he finally takes help from this administrator, who behaves the way an honorable man would when he gets hit square in the face with an evil cabal that cannot be explained away.

Take a look - you will be educated and better for it - and the production is top-notch, in my humble opinion, as a fan of the cinema.

Listen to the end of the of the Themes and Memes podcast in my reply 17, where both are a bit dissatisfied with the "hopeful" (but unresolved) ending involving the Univ Admin good guy... the implied "hope" being that they'd all join ranks, and expose this brotherhood together... the T&M guys feeling that that's not how things really ever seem to settle out, clear through today.

For the past bunch of years he has had everything done to him. False charges, lying by everyone, cops included. he gets followed constantly, falsely arrested. He gets her claims and the charges chucked out of court but the Family court ignores the other courts and lets her claims stand. Even when proven beyond a reasonable doubt she is lying. Waiting to get a link for the interview. The producers don't seem to upload anything these days. Just stream it live to the net every now and then.

Weird story:

Guy sells mixed music CD's. I think on the net. He gets raided by copyright people on fake warrant. Then they change the warrant and barge back into house 2 more times in same day. then gets charged with pirating DVD's, which he didn't have any of. Then with counterfeit clothing.

Gets rail roaded in court, denied notice, denied discovery, denied process, denied appeals. Repair people take mothers car for repairs then refuse to return it. Then charge $25 per day for storage of car, they refuse to return.
