Judge Rosemarie Aquilina is a reminder that the judicial activism of generations of judges creates a high level of unprofessionalism (http://ace.mu.nu/archives/341790.php) in succeeding generations of men and women on the bench until they no longer really understand what they can and can’t do.

But the other factor here is that Judge Rosemarie Aquilina is an elected official in a state where unions have a death grip on local elections. The law she’s following is the law of “You rub my back and I’ll rub yours.”

Finally the judge is a former aide to a Democratic (http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2012/08/28/michigan-house-speaker-faces-election-fraud-allegation/) state senator. So if there’s any doubt at all as to her ideological orientation, that should dispel it.

Ruling that the governor and Detroit’s emergency manager violated the state constitution, an Ingham County Circuit judge ordered Friday that Detroit’s federal bankruptcy filing be withdrawn.

“It’s absolutely needed,” said Judge Rosemarie Aquilina, observing she hopes Gov. Rick Snyder “reads certain sections of the (Michigan) constitution and reconsiders his actions.”

Judges rarely read constitutions. They make them up as they go along.
“It’s cheating, sir, and it’s cheating good people who work,” the judge told assistant Attorney General Brian Devlin. “It’s also not honoring the (United States) president, who took (Detroit’s auto companies) out of bankruptcy.”

Aquilina said she would make sure President Obama got a copy of her order.

“I know he’s watching this,” she said, predicting the president ultimately will have to take action to make sure existing pension commitments are honored.

That’s a political speech that Judge Rosemary Aquilina is giving and she’s tipping her hand rather obviously that she wants Obama to rescue her from oblivion and give her a Federal judgeship and maybe something even bigger.

Meanwhile Detroit’s recovery will continue to be crippled as the same Democratic politicians who have destroyed it will go on destroying it.

The only people there that are making money most likely have their shit together and are prospering in what the government (State) can not do for that city.

I posted an article about a month back where the only entrepreneurs are white people and doing pretty good... Imagine that. I wouldn't even want to be there.

Detroit has been collapsing to oblivion since the new Yen under bretton woods was introduced in1950.

TAs long as the collapse to oblivion or deflation is slow enough...No one seems to notice.

The whole time bretton woods was inflating the world it was deflating Detroit.

In the absolute capitalist hierarchical food powered make work enterprise.

The deficits support the surpluses

The poor support the rich.

Obama is currently governing the mobs in the USA like Morsi was in Egypt.

Why Are The Chinese Gobbling Up Real Estate And Businesses In Detroit?

Something very strange is happening to Detroit. Once upon a time, it was the center of American manufacturing and it hadthe highest per capita income (http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/25-facts-about-the-fall-of-detroit-that-will-leave-you-shaking-your-head) in the United States. But now the city is dying and the Chinese are moving in to pick up the pieces. Lured by news stories that proclaim that you can buy homes in Detroit for as little as one dollar (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2381283/Going-going-going-Detroit-family-home-sale-519-days-despite-market-just-1.html), Chinese investors are eagerly gobbling up properties. In some cases, this is happening dozens of properties at a time. Not only that, according to the New York Times “dozes of companies from China” are investing in businesses and establishing a presence in the Detroit area. If this continues, will Detroit eventually become a city that is heavily dominated by China?

At this point, not too many others appear interested in saving Detroit. Right now, there are approximately 78,000 abandoned buildings (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/10190640/Motor-City-Detroit-files-for-bankruptcy-with-100000-creditors.html) in Detroit and about one-third of the entire city is either vacant or derelict. People have been moving out in droves and there are only about 700,000 residents left.
For many Americans, Detroit is about the last place that they would want to live. But to many Chinese, this sounds like a perfect buying opportunity. According to a recent Fox News report (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/07/29/chinese-investors-betting-on-detroit-comeback-buy-up-real-estate/), real estate agents in Detroit are being overwhelmed with inquiries from China…

Don't you need to be a citizen of the USi to buy property? This is the norm on most all other countries.

are you kidding ? i hear about groups of Chinese investors coming over here to buy homes, lots of homes.

plus they just bought Smithfield, the bacon people. tried to anyway.

too bad China can't pursue "Quality" instead of low-cost in their industrial pursuits. then i wouldn't have to change bacon brands !

I know someone who is buying properties for rentals in Houston. He's a Canadian living down here in Aus. He's the tornado chaser I've mentioned previous.

I always found it interesting that Foreigners can't buy propety in Asia. I'm not aware of any asian country where you can. Maybe in HK you can. I know in indonesia you can only buy a lease for 25 years I think.

in Australia the chinese have been buying wheat and diary farms. Our local dairy industry got squashed and went broke about 6 weeeks ago. That's the whole industry, in one hit over the space of about 1 week, went in to bankruptcy.

The good news is that 2 days later the industry was save because China bought it. All of it. So thats a good thing. Of course they will export the milk to china so we will be paying $3 or $4 a litre.

We had a milk war and everyone was selling milk at $1 a litre. Dairies were getting $0.25/litre which did go up to about $0.33-$0.35/litre but it's still about $0.20 litre too cheap.

But the customer said it was great. Milk for $1 per litre! Now they are going to pay 300% more for milk and will be none the wiser they caused this problem for themselves. People are stupid.

Cant buy chinese land unless you are a citizen of China according to the website. Have to marry a chinese chick (or he-she) and they have to purchase it. No can do if you are USi citizen. Have them buy it and open a he-she bar close to the airport might have a lot of possibilities....

PM me.

was listening to a guy talking about this, this morning. He is an ex Yank. I think moved out here as a wee child. Polish I think. Anyway was saying he has relatives paid $5 for a 3 storey house in Detroit on a block slightly less than 1/4 acre. So around 800 - 1000 M2 is the guestimate.

$5. Thats a price. We've had similar tales for "small" towns down here. When there are maybe 20 people let in the town you can pick up a 1/4 acre for maybe a couple thousand.

anyone want to start a property fund?
