I liked this video, but I am wondering how much of it is true, if it were really back checked.

Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture had nothing to do with the U.S. war of 1812, or any monetary issues. The song plays well with fireworks, and will always be a July 4th classic, but the Russian (Tchaikovsky) found his motivation for this based on war in Russia.
