A "Private Propery" is good ONLY when you have a Land Patent.....looks to me that even the cops don't know that...to them a private property is anywhere a person has a home, in a way that's right but at the same time they are wrong.

I would also help if they had signs outside saying "PRIVATE PROPERTY...BY INVITATION ONLY".

The cops must not have considered their investigation for guns to be very urgent. They could have gotten a warrant to search, and the private property strategy would have faltered. Maybe they weren't interested in having an exciting day. Maybe they had an exciting day the day before, and they needed to chill out, so they just took a break and backed off. I'm just speculating.
