When I saw this post I was thinking that a new highly absorbent toilet paper had been introduced.

There's some high tech materials now available (been available for many years actually) which doesn't need to be that thick to stop high power rifle rounds. I know that this material is used in building low profile armored vehicles. This material when used as a windshield in a car is no thicker than standard windshield glass, however it's very expensive - something in the range of $50k for just a windshield sized piece of it.

The government flag may only be used by federal government authorities and its use by others is an offense, punishable with a fine.

his microphone fuzzballs look like a Cheer-leader's pom-poms.

i guess they can get the same amount of bullet-stopping ability with the 5/8 inch thick material as with the 1 1/2" thick glass/plastic that you see in some places that handle cash.

in one of the threads about DHS's jack-booted-thug-vans, someone mentioned that they were designed to stop up to .50 caliber.

but we also had a thread about an approx. .750 caliber rifle.

but the DHS and the President are here to protect us. they are widely respected. /sarc

I remember the Mythbusters had this "balistic shield" that they carted everywhere and setup for protection when making things go "boom". Anyway it became one of the viewer myths that this shield they were using was actually balistic at all. It was only a few mm's thick, perhaps just under 1/3". They carried it everywhere and it was fairly light. One person could easily carry a panel. So it turned out not to be balistic at all and then there was an argument about whether Jamie originally claimed it was. I think he did say that but I don't think he agrees.

So even though it looks like a BP shield, perhaps it's only a fiat BP shield.

Well if he lost it there would be a chance he would get Kennedyed...

Oh that's right they wont let Michelle handle firearms... sigh.

Exactly, look at all the countries we freed, the leaders were always easy targets even with the majority of the population was armed. But now they have a central bank and democratically elected leader.

Maybe the shield doesn't stop the bullet, but change the direction, so it becomes impossible to hit what's on target behind the shield... I think a potential assassin would have the highest likelihood of success by using drone technology...
