An Al-Qaida affiliate has developed a new generation of liquid explosive that U.S. officials fear could be used in a future attack, ABC News reported Monday.
Two senior U.S. government sources who have been briefed on the terror threat that prompted the U.S. to close embassies across the Mideast and North Africa this week, told the network (http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/al-qaeda-threat-officials-fear-ingenious-liquid-explosive/storynew?id=19871892) that clothes (http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/1.540045#) dipped in the liquid become explosive devices when dry.
One of the U.S. officials described the new generation explosive as "ingenious," while another said it would be undetectable under current security processes.
The liquid explosive is believed to be the brainchild of the Yemen-based affiliate Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the officials told ABC News. This affiliate is home (http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/1.540045#) to Ibrahim al-Asiri, a master bombmaker, who was on the 25 "most wanted terrorist" list published by the Yemeni government.

On the plus side, they won't need those expensive porno-scanners at the airport anymore. No more risk of irradiation. You'll just have to strip, bend over for your cavity search, then the nice TSA goon will hand you your paper flight gown, make sure you're securely cuffed to your seat, and off you go to your destination, while the local bomb squad detonates your clothing from a safe distance.

No kidding, the sad thing is I can see some lawmakers actually push for this sort of thing. Paper flight gowns, lol!

A rapidly combustible cloth is not explosive unless it is enclosed under pressure when ignited. Picric acid and nitrosylating agents turn many polymers and organics into "combustible" and potentially explosive compounds. Perhaps AL-CIA-DA has come with something even more potent. Or perhaps Homeland Security needs an excuse for much tighter controls at airports. Maybe folk are smuggling too much wealth in the form of clothing. I expect we'll be seeing chemical sniffers at airports next. If your clothing item fails the sniff test, it is seized and there's nothing you can do about it. This should be a welcome addition to the Homeland Security goons thieving techniques: they can pick out a whole new wardrobe in a single day on the job.

Looks like Chertoff and company found a new way to sell more sniffer machines to the airports and force people through them. Grope downs aren't effective about these new clothing terrarists
