One day home owners are going to have to start shooting, or die.

Breaking the law...in the name of the law.

...or die

Family members/household members (family pets) are already dying.

Have to burn the village to save it... etc. etc.

If/when people do shoot back, I wonder if it'll make the news or how it will be spun.

I envision a civil forfeiture going wrong that sets it off. But that's just speculation on my part. As more people wise up to the fact that they are being robbed by idiots in a costume more will respond with force to defend themselves and assets.

They'll continue to do everything they can to spin it in a way that makes it appear that the shooter or shooters are either whacked out insane lone gunmen or whacked out fringe cult lunatics.

That will only work for so long. Once you get to the point to where you have defend your actions, you've already lost.

I think you're right. Even wrong house raids can be spun into - "when home defense turns deadly, homeowner killed by police after he opens fire on them". Rather than allow police to engage in a controlled dialogue, the homeowner initiated deadly violence on law enforcement - perhaps he had something to hide...police still investigating

It seems what it comes down to is if you're able to hold them off and live to tell your side of the story, you might be able to make some points. Also the 911 call is a recorded line so that and having your own video surveliance system can make for some pretty amazing evidence in the civil case that can be brought later on. Streaming video to youtube could also help document the event. Unfortunately the police will look for ways to charge you criminally and it's the opening of the criminal case where evidence can be seized/controlled/destroyed. Best to have multiple sources to document the incident. My guess is the media would be used to taint the potential jury pool in the criminal case of your home defense
