I had to say goodbye to my beloved beagle, Cassie, this week. She was my best friend for 13 years and all the memories we shared are stinging like salt on a wound at the moment. I know that one day these memories will bring smiles instead of tears but for now I keep expecting to hear her collar jingling as she comes running when she hears me opening up the fridge. The house is so empty and lonely without her. I miss her terribly.

Here's to you, girl. The best dog anyone could ever ask for. I can't wait til we meet again.

She looks like a real sweetheart. My condolences. Unfortunately our pets are with us for what seems like way too short of a time (unless your pet is a parrot).

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Pets always leave a lasting impression... Makes me think about my own dog that was hit by a car a couple of years ago. My wife even remarked saying she's never seen me cry before. But I did after I heard he was hit by a car and just left there.....

My condolences SRB..... I occasionally see my friend in a dream at night. I feel that's his way of letting me know he's ok. Hopefully yours comes and visits you.

Best dogs in the world.... Beagles.

I almost lost one scouting for a deer hunting area pre-season. The Beagle caught the sent of deer, and off she went. Hours later after we gave-up the search, we found her waiting by the car.

Another plus, common w/many other dogs, the Beagle never bites anyone, they may nip at you, but its just to make a point with you.

And I love their howl. Two different types, the common one and the one that says something is different this time, and you should come see what is up.

Sorry to hear this, it's one tough loss.

If we never meet again this side of heaven
As we struggle through this world and its strife
There's another meeting place somewhere in heaven
By the side of river of life

Where the roses bloom forever
And where separation comes no more
If we never meet again this side of heaven
I will meet you on that beautiful shore

Losing a beloved furry friend is one of the hardest things to do. We can only take all of the good memories and keep them alive in our hearts. Take care.

Some of the animals I have truly loved during my life and they have loved me.

Lets see ,in order from about 5.....

A chicken

A lamb

A goat

Always dogs

A cat

A calf/cow

Another cat

A dog plus another dog

Now .......a dog and my best friend at the moment .....a CAT

Now if people cant work out the meaning of life then look to the animals you have loved in your life as they dont seem to last as long as humans but it is this time we shared together that is the true meaning of life........life itself.

Dog = Man's best friend (the world)

God = Man's best friend (the Bible)

Dog is God spelled backwards. Satanists are encouraged to do as much as they can backwards

Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

BTW: I have a dog but I keep things in their proper perspective

i lost a pet chicken to a dog (well, a fox, actually.)

i figure 3 chickens about equals one dog, in terms of Pet qualities.

so i got 2/3 of a dog left.

the Fox went for the biggest one.

my fault. i have since started feeding them in the coop all morning, so that they don't range so widely looking for food in the afternoon.

My condolences. I lost a good dog a few years ago too, and it's true, that it's painful now, so close to the event, but after a while these memories will bring back smiles. Every time I think back to my old pinscher I smile and laugh.

We have a curly retriever which is a large enough dog and he respects the cat also.

It only takes one well aimed swipe on the snout to get the message, in fact the cat stalks the dog sometimes...haha good for a laugh.

One day I heard a dog yelping and this was a neighbors dog as big as ours ,as I look out a window and who appears next ,the cat walking away.

We had heaps of Jack Russells but they all met their demise in one way or another.

If they go down a wombats hole then the wombat will crush them against the side of the tunnel.

If they chase a snake then the snake will bite it.

If they chase a car then they get squished.

Great dogs but difficult to stop running off and doing crazy things.

We had a mother and pup once and they went bush ,we gave up on ever seeing them again ,then 2 or 3 weeks later there is the pup(older than a pup) outside the window while we where eating our evening meal, mother ,never seen again.
