Roger Waters in Trouble for Putting Star of David on Inflatable Pig

Over the past year, Roger Waters (http://ultimateclassicrock.com/tags/roger-waters/) has stepped up his protests over the Israeli government’s treatment of the Palestinian people, calling for a cultural boycott of Israel (http://ultimateclassicrock.com/roger-waters-cultural-boycott-israel/) and speaking before the United Nations (http://ultimateclassicrock.com/roger-waters-speaks-to-the-united-nations/) on the subject. But now he is in hot water with a leading Jewish organization for using a Star of David in a controversial manner at a recent concert.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center has taken issue with a moment at Waters’ ‘The Wall’ show on July 18 in Werchter, Belgium. During ‘Run Like Hell,’ a large inflatable pig — for years a staple of Waters and Pink Floyd (http://ultimateclassicrock.com/tags/pink-floyd/) concerts — hovered over the crowd. Amid many symbols of fascism and oppression on the pig was a Star of David, a symbol of Judaism that appears on Israel’s flag. You can see video above.
“With this disgusting display Roger Waters has made it crystal clear,” Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of the center, told the Algemeiner (http://www.algemeiner.com/2013/07/24/massive-pig-balloon-at-roger-waters-concert-features-star-of-david-video/). “Forget Israel, never mind ‘limited boycotts promoting Middle East Peace.’ Waters is an open hater of Jews.”
There was no comment from Waters on the use of the symbol in the Algemeiner’s piece. However, a spokesman for another Jewish rights organization, the Anti Defamation League, stated that, in the context of the piece, the use of the Star of David was not anti-Semitic. “The song is written from the point of view of the antihero, ‘Pink,’ during a hallucination in which he becomes a fascist dictator and turns a concert audience into an angry mob,” said Todd Gutnick. “True to form, Waters appears dressed for the part … In the film version of ‘The Wall,’ the mob raids and destroys the homes of Black and Jewish people, so the use of the Jewish and other symbols on the pig is consistent with the lyrics of the song.”

The irony of this controversy is that the consumption of pork is forbidden under Jewish dietary laws.

A well-known British musician has in an open letter called on his fellow musicians to boycott the Zionist Israeli regime following the example of the cultural boycott against the former South African Apartheid regime.

“Given the inability or unwillingness of our governments [to act] …. I write to you now, my brothers and sisters … to ask you to join with me, and thousands of other artists around the world, to declare a cultural boycott on Israel,” Roger Waters said in his letter published by Electronic Intifada website.

Waters said the Zionist regime has been found guilty of major breaches of human rights and the international law independently by international organizations, United Nations officials and the International Court of Justice.

He touched on two such cases saying the regime has been identified as perpetrating the “crime of Apartheid”, including in a statement on March 9, 2012 by UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, and the “crime of ethnic cleansing” including in East Jerusalem (al-Quds).

Waters added he has been a member of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against the Israeli regime’s occupation of the Palestinian lands and Tel Aviv’s violations of Palestinian human rights for seven years and now wants other musicians to also join the anti-Israeli front.

“Please join me and all our brothers and sisters in global civil society in proclaiming our rejection of Apartheid in Israel and occupied Palestine, by pledging not to perform or exhibit in Israel or accept any award or funding from any institution linked to the government of Israel, until such time as Israel complies with international law and universal principles of human rights,” he said.

The former Pink Floyd Musician also said he has recently faced a boycott by American media after his November 29, 2012 address at the United Nations on behalf of the Russell Tribunal.

In the address he sought accountability for the Zionist regime’s violations of the international law and the lack of United Nations resolve that prevent the Palestinian people from achieving their inalienable rights, especially the right of self-determination.

And the worms ate into his brain.

Trying to tear down the iron wall of anti-Semitism is a lot harder to do than the berlin wall...which was planned to be taken down.

In New Zealand we protested apartheid in south africa and didnt send over our rugby team

NZ fought the French and protested for nuclear testing by the french on an atoll.

Banned all American nuclear arms and ships ,went nuclear free.

To hell with the BS if you cant speak up you may as well be dead.

Now they attack with earthquakes.

NZ may be a little compromised by present day governments but the people can have a big say there ,people have fought and prevented fluoride in the Christchurch water supply for instance.

In comparison Americas Federal government is like a massive super government and like an elephant you have to watch out when it moves.

This Map Of Israel Proves Israel is Doing Something Highly Illegal

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention (http://www.icrc.org/ihl/COM/380-600056) of 1949 prohibits the transfer of parts of a state’s population into territories it occupies. The authoritative commentary (http://www.icrc.org/ihl.nsf/COM/380-600056?OpenDocument) of the convention drafted by the International Committee of the Red Cross states its purpose was to prevent colonization of occupied territories. The language prohibits “any and all” population transfers from the occupying power to occupied territory. In 2004, the International Court of Justice unanimously found that Israeli settlements in occupied Palestine exist in breach of Article 49. Just for relativity’s sake, you are more likely to find a herd of unicorns speaking Latin with the pope than obtain a unanimous decision from the International Court of Justice. It is extremely rare.
