from the wiki so lots of links. Makes for an interesting read. Especially their battle for defence contracts. Wonder how many agendas involved in that.

Dragon Skin is a type of ballistic vest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballistic_vest) made by Pinnacle Armor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinnacle_Armor). It is currently produced in Fresno, California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fresno,_California). Its characteristic two-inch-wide circular discs overlap like scale armor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scale_armour), creating a flexible vest that allows a good range of motion and is intended to absorb a high number of hits compared with other military body armor. The discs are composed of silicon carbide (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon_carbide) ceramic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceramic) matrices and laminates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laminate), much like the larger ceramic plates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceramic_plate) in other types of bullet resistant vests.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Skin_%28body_armor%29#cite_note-1)

The armor is available in three basic protection levels: SOV-2000, which has previously had certification to Level III protection (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulletproof_vest#Performance_standards);[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Skin_%28body_armor%29#cite_note-DOJ-2)[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Skin_%28body_armor%29#cite_note-Defense_Review-3) SOV-3000, which is rated as Level IV by the manufacturer, but has not officially certified as such;[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Skin_%28body_armor%29#cite_note-Defense_Review-3) and a rating-unspecified "Level V" variant not available to the general public.

Dragon Skin has been worn by some civilian contractors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_military_company) in Iraq (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq), some special operations forces (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_forces) in Iraq and Afghanistan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afghanistan),[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Skin_%28body_armor%29#cite_note-M927-4) some SWAT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SWAT) teams,[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Skin_%28body_armor%29#cite_note-5) nine generals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_officer) in Afghanistan,[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Skin_%28body_armor%29#cite_note-M927-4)[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Skin_%28body_armor%29#cite_note-MSNBC550-6) bodyguards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodyguard) tasked with protecting generals,[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Skin_%28body_armor%29#cite_note-MSNBC550-6) and U.S. Secret Service (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Secret_Service) personnel.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Skin_%28body_armor%29#cite_note-M927-4) The Central Intelligence Agency (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Intelligence_Agency) (CIA) has also purchased Dragon Skin.[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Skin_%28body_armor%29#cite_note-MSNBC550-6) The Seattle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle) superhero Phoenix Jones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Jones) is also said to have incorporated Dragon Skin into his suit.

Military testing
Dragon Skin became the subject of controversy with the U.S. Army[12] over testing it against its Interceptor body armor. The Army claimed Pinnacle's body armor was not proven to be effective. In tests run for the Air Force there were multiple failures to meet the claimed level of protection. This coupled with poor quality control (over 200 of the 380 vests delivered to USAF OSI were recalled due to improperly manufactured armor disks) and accusations of fraudulent claims of official NIJ rating which Pinnacle had not actually obtained at the time of purchase led to the termination of the USAF contract. Pinnacle attempted to appeal this decision, but courts found in favor of the USAF.[13]

good for you ximmy

no one sees the manipulation persecution and cheating against these guys to make sure the people who have the current contract keep it, despite the dragon skin being leaps ahead. Also, wouldn't you want your guys to be as protected as possible? Why not? Why make decisions that would lead to higher deaths etc.

Just seemed pretty obvious to me. Someone has the contract and doesn't want to lose it. Personally if I was the maker I'd be selling to Joe P.

SOV™ Flexible Body Armorhttp://www.pinnaclearmor.com/images/flexpanel.jpg

"Moves when you Move"™
Developments in body armor over the last thirty years are numerous, but very few actually have revolutionized the industry. The last two major developments were the introduction of Kevlar and Spectra products which significantly lowered weights compared to ballistic nylon. Now, Pinnacle Armor presents a revolutionary technology called DRAGON SKIN®, the first practical, FLEXIBLE BODY ARMOR that defeats rifle rounds.
Pinnacle Armor was founded by a noted inventor and author in the field of ballistic armor, Murray Neal. Mr. Neal has relied on his combined expertise of ballistic sciences and field experience to achieve a quantum leap in technology-the first flexible body armor that defeats rifle fire. Now you can wear armor that flexes and molds to the contours of your body and allows for greater coverage than a rigid 10" x 12" plate which is the typical coverage offered in current technology.
SOV™ flexible armor is completely fabricated in the USA for American Special Forces, Police Tactical Teams and approved foreign militaries.
Unmatched in its capabilities, the SOV™ flexible body armor system provides the following benchmarks never before established in body armor development:

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/18790506/ns/us_news-military/t/army-dragon-skin-armor-failed-battery-tests/

WASHINGTON (http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&where1=WASHINGTON&sty=h&form=msdate) — In a rare move, the U.S. Army on Monday released a barrage of test results showing that a privately sold flexible body armor that some families have sought for their soldiers failed extensive military testing.
Pieces of the hefty Dragon Skin armor, with ragged holes torn through its yellow inner skin, were propped up on the floor in the Pentagon, as Army officials systematically detailed the battery of ammunition and temperature testing the armor failed.
Although the tests were done nearly a year ago, the Army declined to release details until Monday, after recent NBC News reports suggested that the Dragon Skin may be better than the Army-issued Interceptor armor.
As a result of the reports, some members of Congress have asked for an investigation into the matter, and others have asked the Army for more information.....

Company implies Army lied
In response, Murray Neal, president of Pinnacle Armor which produces Dragon Skin, suggested that the Army lied about some of the testing, and he questioned why the Army was counting shots that "were fired into the non-rifle defeating areas."

so I was reading about Light emitting diodes and ended up reading about that in passing because of the make up of the dragon skins includes the chem. It was something I stumbled across that I thougth demonstrates corruption very well. The sort of corruption that gets innocent people killed..... for want.

The other thing this does is gives me an idea.

and ximmy, I can refer to what ever I want. Thanks.

I know you appear to be a young person but I don't grasp what the issue is exactly. I was reading the wiki for technical info. There is no political or social agenda. The other topic was a tangent I ended up on. I thought it spoke volumes of a particular modus operandi.

you can choose not to follow a link but if you choose not to it doesn't matter to me, if you want to inform the forum of this and why then that's all good but I think your posts in this thread are deliberately provocative not informative. Whats the point? Do we have a beef I don't know about? It would be news to me.

As for flouride, I filter. thanks for your concern.

I never thought you would make the list but there you go.

Back to the OT. I think this stuff is an interesting concept. Looking at the xray image my first response was, well that can be improved in terms of the arrangement of the disks. Looking at the Legionaire gives a clue as to how it can be improved. Shape and arrangement.

to me the interesting part, and the reason I ended up looking at that wiki topic, is one of the compounds used to coat the disks in the dragon skin. Its the same material as is used in the Diodes of an LED light. It can emit light when electrically polarised hence the use in LEDs. It is also semi conductive and can be doped for changes in conductivity. This means it has uses in all sorts of diodes not just LED's. It also contributes to an extremely tough surface coating hence it's use in body armour. I am curious about its manufacture and how complicated that process is. The material is used in coating vessels used in steel smelting because it resists heat well above the melting point of steel.

Anyway dragon skin is interesting of it'self.Maybe it will give some other people out there a few ideas. I'm trying to convince a mad scientist friend of mine to see if he can make some of this stuff. he's a bit reluctant after blowing up his lab with a free energy thing he made. I tried to point out the explosion was a sign of success but the large dent in the dispatch door seems to be putting him off at the moment.

water is filtered pre-consumption ... or just using well water without fluoride.

internet ... filtered during consumption.

what is the latin word for during ?

e.g. Harvey Organ - has good info, AND he's Jewish and pro-Israel.

we just ignore what he says about Jews & Israel because his pro-Jew bias is blind to the Palestinians.

Hence the dragonskin and handle, I've been there a few times myself with glass.

Cool topic, if I were an independently wealthy Batman type fellow this would be first thing on my list of to do items.

My only addition to the simple design might be a fractal type arrangement for the disks of different sizes.

With an all over body type in the flex points, maybe why they look like they miss a few in areas on the X-ray?

I'm sorry, I don't have time to play with members like ximmy. There just isnt enough of it in each day for provoking people. I don't come here to disrespect or bait people. I come here to learn and discover. Not everyone sees eye to eye but I can move on. I like technical types of subjects that give me ideas about things that could be a benefit to me or others sometime in the future, be it tomorrow, next week, next year or whenever. Something that gets you thinking, what if it was done this way or that way?

Anyhow. I've got some good ideas from this concept and the material that I was researching that led me there. I'm not specifically interested in the body armour side of things but it would be a beneficial side effect. I need a 3D printer.

Book this is the second time I've told you, this is about chad's grapes.

There is no fetishism going on here, strictly the fascination and relation of female feet in the making of exceptional wine from the U.S.

Luckily I've found away to protect all female feet I encounter with this dragonskin thread, until I know more.

Foot fetish suspect captured in Clackamas Co.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) - Clackamas County authorities arrested a 46-year-old man accused of fondling the legs and feet of female shoe shoppers.

Detective Jim Strovink says Steven George Bronson was captured Wednesday after an alert woman spotted him in Happy Valley. Surveillance video of a suspect had been broadcast on television.

Strovink says the incidents occurred during the past three weeks in Clackamas County and in Medford.
The man would concoct a reason for women to try on shoes. He would then assist them before rubbing their feet and legs.

Bronson has been charged with sex abuse and lodged at the county jail.
