67, if you don't count the mini smoker, which really brings the tally to 68. i celebrated by buying another rocket stove. so, now i'm at 69\uu\

if you don't have at least 2 months of stoves put away, why are you still alive?

3 or 4 flats of dry canned dehydrated onions. lots of mountain house and honeyville meat products. boy scout here, be prepared.

i also finally made a permanent bob that stays in my car, as well as a 2 week food bag that stays in the car. starting to get paranoid. thanks obama!

camerons makes several models. i have an old discontinued one, it's like this, only it runs on denatured alcohol. it's great for smoking small fish, poultry, etc. while out in the field.

That looks like it would be a great addition to the boat. I like things that run on denatured alcohol, because I store gallons of it. That is small enough to put on deck and smoke a fish. Do they still make a denatured alcohol one?

they do not :(

however, if you really want one, i have an unused abu garcia model that is basically the same thing (abu wants $140 for them currently INSANE), that you can have (i got it for free in a trade years ago). i've been dragging it around for a long time. pm me hitcher, it's yours. you live on a boat, it'd be perfect!

do you mean 69 actual cooking devices? or 69 somethings of fuels? It's a lotta stoves. I buy 2 or 3 of each but only 6 different stove options. Portability is the main category. The 1st one gets used. Then anything that stands out for improvement is done on the 2nd. If I think it's very practical I'll get a 3rd but keep using #1. Usually it's just things like surface treatments or replacing handles or screws/grubs and so on.

I bought a bunch of different fuel types. I don't have any denatured other than some cases of those food warmer types with gel in them. Disposable Gas bugs me because it's wasteful compared to other fuels. There's always some left and not enough pressure. But I have more of it any way cause it's cheap at about $1.50 a can and thats around weeks cooking. Maybe double that for 2 hot meals a day. Works poorly in the cold.

I want a rocket stove of some sort. Was also going to mess around making a few hobo stoves.

Chad, did you ever end up getting one of those Biolite campstoves? I am still interested in them.

69 is a great number, btw... ;)

BTW, with the alcohol stoves you can make one out of nothing, i.e. like an Altoids box. Just search youtube. Since we're expecting major cold this winter PLEASE search for rocket stoves etc.

yeah, mine came about a year ago. it's pretty slick. i use it all the time when i'm in your neck of the woods near upsala. powers things up nicely and is a good cooker as well. worth the money on that one.

I just wanted to bump this thread and share what a nice thing Chad did.

He sent me this abu Garcia smoker, and I've been using it quite a bit. Smoked trout, today I smoked up near 1 pound of salmon thinking I would have leftovers for a sandwich tomorrow, but it was so delicious I ended up eating it all.

If you like fish, you'll love this smoker, it's so easy to use.

While eating dinner, I couldn't help but think some guy I've never met in person, just over an internet forum, sent me this. What a wonderful world we live in, when folks do kind things like that.

Thanks Chad, and I hope I can return the favor some day.

I'll have the smoker ready and plenty of fish. Skittles and iced tea for desert. :D
