Funny, I don't recall anyone being *offended* by naming killing machines with such names as 'Tomahawk', 'Apache', 'Comanche', 'Kiowa', 'Sioux', 'Iroquois', etc. If I were AmerIndian I would regard having a well respected kickbutt football franchise named the Redskins to be a good thing.

Being part native american and friends with many people from different tribes... My brother in law is actually a chief in his tribe. They usually just dont want their names used in a disgraceful manner. Redskins while a sort of racist term to some... Most people I know say... WTF its just a foot ball team name and they are proud of it. Its not like they are called Dirty redskins! But there are a few that see any use of so called indian names as an insult! Too bad for them... Redskins is neither bad or good with out the qualifier. Just a descriptive. Most dont care because they see it as a strong portrayal of that name.

There's a local family that's been around here for several generations with the very same family name - they owned a very well known meat market which operated for more than 75 years in the same location.
