If we ever did travel in time, the only money worth carrying could only be precious metals. You could take it anywhere in the past and get value for it. It would be recognized as money regardless of where you went or who you needed to trade with. We know that to be true. In the future, one quite possibly full of failed fiat currencies, silver and gold would again provide a universal medium of exchange for whatever ‘fold it your pocket’-friendly currency existed. It doesn’t have to be worth a lot of dollars. It could be worth something in Yuan, SDR, Ameros, or something else that hasn’t been created yet. It transcends geography, governments, and time. http://silverenthusiast.com/silver-primary-currency-in-looper-universe/

Yep saw Looper when it came out, and liked that precious metals were the money that was predominately used.

This was a decent movie, one that I have to watch again with my watchful kids and wives. I do screen things to exempt their minds of bullshit. very interesting premise.

Are those bar codes on silver bars, or morse code?

Someone did take the time to toss them around a bit for authenticity.

There is no reference to the codes given. The dude just stacks em, quite a collection. Good movie, I would recommend it.

Oh this is the one where the kid has some special ability to make things go poof, and they go back in time to get him?

I keep catching the end of it on HBO.

Just watched it on viooz.com .... Good flick. It seems to be a morality play on how a dystopian future might be altered by a single act. Maybe the gold and silver bullion represented constancy or consistency
between the past and the future?

So the bad guys in the future (@ 45mins. in) wear Orthodox Jew hats, and dump all their gold and silver into the past?

Nothing has changed in this loop...

I have to say, the movie kept you on your toes (Horn)... But it never really delivered... Kind of anti-climatic.

Main character had no developed love relation, the jap woman was only figurative.

Not seeing enough of Piper's appendices, or a mother who was unable to pull the trigger, non committal.

Writer/Director may have not had the allotted time from his monied investors.
