I've got a new favorite.

Sovs use to be my favorite, because of their size, and the fact you can pick them up close to the price of regular bullion coins minted today. I recently purchased a 1909 half eagle coin. Got a good deal I think, close to the price I could have gotten a 1/4 new ounce eagle for.

Love this coin, it instantly became my favorite. I've wanted a pre-33 US coin for a long time, and this one is just beautiful.

It got me thinking...what is your favorite gold coin, and why?

I like this one because holding it my hand takes me back in time, to when gold/silver where honest money changing hands and men had these coins in their pockets, saddlebags, etc. The history is amazing to me.

I also like the Liberty Head coins. The St Gaudens is artsy, but the Liberty Head is dignified. Especially the reverse.

The 1909 high relief double eagle. From a time when our money was as beautiful as it was valuable.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. For me, the St. Gaudens gold eagle is far and away the most beautiful gold coin ever minted. The modern bullion eagles coins are OK because they have the St. Gaudens obverse. But the reverse is just plain pedestrian and boring. Whomever made that selection had his taste up his ass.

You're all going to hell for worshiping pagan goddesses. :)

Coin commemorating Jewish Nazi collaboration had on one side Nazi Symbol of Swastika and on other side Jewish Symbol of ‘star of David’ now seen on Israel national flag also. The ships which carried Jews for occupation and control of Palestine bore their names in Hebrew and Swastika flew from the mast.

I like the American Gold Eagle. Why? Since everyone knows what it is, and it's probably the easiest to resell. Personally I don't give a fuck what it looks like. I just want whatever I can get the best spread between buying/selling. Also what is the easiest to resell.
