I always check my change for silver, a habit going back to my coin collecting days in the mid 1960s. I haven't found a silver coin in my change in years. They must be exquisitely rare at this late date.

War nickels are easier to find in the wild than 90%. Anyone can tell from looking at the edge that a coin is silver. Only the astute know to look for 1942-1945 nickels. Hell, I don't spend any nickels. They're the last of our precious metal coinage.

Yeah, but I can't find the part that says, "Then when you find them, send to us and we will give you dollars in return." ...

I keep searching too. All my change. I did score a silver dime about a year ago, and you know what, I found it by sound! I heard it when the guy gave me my change at a 7-11. Can't mistake that sound.

I think it's been 2+ years since I found any silver in circulation. Honest to God though, the last time I got silver in my change I got both a silver quarter and dime. Part of me thinks a kid cashed in his dad's coin collection at the local gas station for candy bars.

There are rare. I always flip my change in my hand check for silver using the exact methodology described, and I've gotten one 1953 dime (from Petco, where the pets go, lol) in 5 years.

Does anyone here do coin roll hunting? I used to when I had more free time, but the payoff was never that great.
