consder this: as of today, the biolite kettle pot has been released for late october pre-order.

http://www.biolitestove.com/

this essentially turns the biolite in to a jetboil system, a jetboil that you can scrounge fuel for anywhere and that charges electronic devices to boot.

this is probably the #1 best combo in the stove world you could possible purchase right now. get the biolite and this kettle pot, and you can cook and charge virtually anywhere, forever, for free.

p.s. if you're thinking about buying one and are looking at the grill accessory, forget it, total gimmick.

The grill sucks? That's too bad, it looks pretty cool.

I will be picking up the kettle.

If I use coal instead of twigs, can I use this stove to run a 60" flat screen TV instead of charging a cell phone?

so chad, it actually can charge something up to a useful level? With a proper charge? Sometimes trickle charger type things like USB battery chargers can only give a modest charge to the batteries, so basically taking them off empty but not giving very long power availability.

I also had a question about the weight and if this seriously impacts practicality/portability. Would it be a bug out bag or bug out car piece of kit in your worthy opinion?

I think the device is most excellent.

it does actually charge things. it's not like your power outlet, but if i charge a dead iPhone, i will get about 60 minutes battery life out of it. never charged one from totally dead to full, but i'm guessing it would take 2 hours or so.

i'm thinking it weighs around 9 or 20 ounces. it weighs about the same as a can of progresso soup, and i think those are right around 20 ounces. i have one in my bob and an extra one in my car. they don't weigh all that much.

I think I might have been watching an ultra lite backpacker guy who was saying it was abit heavy but for those guys, they go mental over 1 oz of weight so I suspected he was being a bit extreme.

Good to know. I remember you posting this mob when it was still a dream. I'm pleased they were able to make it. All the regular YT's I've seen of it praise the build quality and obviously the tech involved so Kudos to those guys. They done did good.

So basically, you have to wait in the woods long enough to be eaten by wolves or attacked by a hungry bear. But, your cell phone will have enough charge to call 911.
