Aaron Alexis: FBI releases video of shooting September 25, 2013 - 01:48 pm
(WJLA) - The man who carried out the Sept. 16 mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard believed he was being controlled by low-frequency electronic waves and expected to die after the shooting, the FBI said Wednesday.

While the FBI is continuing to investigate shooter Aaron Alexis and his motives, the FBI’s Valerie Parlave said he acted alone during a 70-minute rampage during which he killed 12 people.
“There are indicators that Alexis was prepared to die and accepted death as the inevitable consequence of his actions,” she said.
On Wednesday, the FBI also released surveillance video of Alexis taken on the day he committed the mass shooting. The video shows Alexis driving his vehicle into the Navy Yard as well as walking through Navy Yard Building 197 armed with a sawed-off shotgun.
Etched into the shotgun were several phrases, including “not what ya’ll say," "end to the torment" and “better off this way," Parlave said.
Also etched into the weapon was the phrase "my ELF weapon," a reference to the electronic waves he delusionally believed were controlling his thoughts, Parlave said.
There's no evidence Alexis targeted any of the victims or had any prior relationship with them.
According to a timeline released by the FBI, Alexis drove into the Navy Yard just before 8 a.m. on Sept. 16 and entered Building 197 minutes later. He fired his first shots at 8:16 a.m., touching off a rampage that lasted an hour and 10 minutes.
