Three independent sources have recently claimed the Lord told them a large earthquake is going to hit the west coast of the United States on Thursday, October 3, 2013. Two of these sources identified the earthquake will measure 9.7 on the Richter scale. That would make it the largest earthquake in recorded history.

Since 1900 when earthquake records began, the largest earthquake was 53 years ago, a 9.5 in Chile in 1960. That earthquake was also accompanied by a 38 foot tsunami, which caused most of the casualties. The devastating earthquake and tsunami that destroyed northeastern Japan in 2011 was a 9.0 on the Richter scale. It caused a 133 foot tsunami. A 9.7 earthquake would be seven times stronger than the one that hit Japan. There have only been five earthquakes in history measuring 9.0 or higher, so it is very rare.

do predictions like this serve any function other than to allow the general public to
refer to survivalists & preppers in the context of "Wacky Doom & Gloom" ?

i'm not knocking Hitcher for posting it - it is informative.

i'm not sure if it tells us anything about California geophysics & earthquake imminence.

maybe one of more of the predictors have genuine insight.

or maybe predictions like this have more of a psy-ops function.

Yeah this sort of information muddies the waters. Some people had visions so watch out!

Not to say it can't happen but if there was some sort of science or proof of some kind I might take these sorts of warnings more seriously.

We do know that gravitational and electrical interactions between heavenly bodies can potentially trigger earthquakes.

I agree and didn't mean to muddy up the waters. This prediction is bold, not only for the date in just a few days, but also the magnitude of the quake. They predict the Golden Gate bridge will come down, not only that but the remains turned vertical, whatever that means.

Anyway, some interesting doom. Not that it couldn't happen, earthquakes are the big doom out here on the coast.

Would never forgive myself if it actually happened, and I didn't give you folks a heads up. :)

I don't worried about it because there is nothing that I can do about it.....but..... I do have a plan as to where to run to as soon as it starts.

If this does happen on Oct 3, you can bet it is them blowing the fault line with the nuke that went missing on Sept 3 to create a reason for a martial law take over.

James McCanney thinks the japan earth quake was also set off by a nuke.
