No time to get lax, Satan's lil' helpers are relentless -

So it begs the question: So if guns are "an insane first choice for self-defense" then what's the best 'first choice for self-defense'??

very situation dependent.

need more info.

BUT - if i were to make some assumptions -

"what's the best 'first choice for self-defense' if you perceive that you have about 2 seconds to react or to be dead" -

something you can draw & discharge in 1 second.

without ending up in a 6 x 9 cell.

ALTERNATIVE ANSWERs -

a flame-thrower full of jellied gasoline.

1000 trained chickens to peck the attacker to death. slowly. :)

/\ AND if you combine these 2 methods, YOU GET BARBECUED CHICKEN !

Right. Some situations require deadly force as an opening move, in other situations the mere presence of guns helps to keep the peace. No two situations are alike, however when faced with immediate and instant unlawful deadly force then the 'best first choice for self-defense' is...a gun, i.e. unless one is a fucking bad ass ninja with a katana along with being (nearly) as fast as a speeding bullet. I cannot imagine anything being more suitable than a gun as a 'first choice for self-defense'.

Just because you have a gun under your belt doesn't mean it's you're first choice for self defense. A sharp mind is the best first choice. But it's there when the best options are no longer available.

Since the biggest threat to you today is the police...I'd say the 1st choice for self-defense would be a good pair of legs.

that guy had a decent set of legs but i don't think he's got much experience running over police cars.

does the cop tackle him so hard because the man scratched his police car paint ?

The Department of Homeland Security answered this question. They recommend using scissors.

While maybe not as effective as scissors, I'll stick to my gun.

If you find yourself on a cruise ship that's being boarded by pirates, a deck chair seems to be the best choice. (I love the deck chair story).

For the small and the weak, the first move with a firearm is probably essential:

Man shoots dog in Boise neighborhood

KTVB.COM - September 29, 2013 at 6:51 PM

BOISE -- A man opened fire on a dog in a West Boise neighborhood after the man and his wife felt threatened by the dog, police said.

Officers were called to the neighborhood just before 10 a.m. Sunday, for a report of a shot fired.

The man told police he shot at the dog after he and his wife felt the dog threatened them as they walked their own dog.

Police say neighbors reported a German Shepard running loose in the neighborhood.

The dog was hit by the shot. It was taken to a veterinarian and is expected to survive.

In the city, dogs are required to be kept under control by the owner and allowing a dog to run at large on a street or alley may be a violation of city code, police said.

Officers say the man was legally in possession of the gun and no citations were issued.

I looked at that, the video is totally manipulated, slow then ultra fast, lol. Bet that guy got a headache from that.
