WASHINGTON (AP) -- Police say the U.S. Capitol has been put on a security lockdown amid reports of possible shots fired outside the building.
People standing outside the Supreme Court across the street from Congress were hurried into the court building by authorities.
U.S. Capitol police said they had received reports of gunshots and one police officer has been injured.

"I was just eating a hot dog over here and I heard about four or five gunshots, and then a swarm of police cars came in wailing their sirens," said Whit Dabney, 13, who was visiting from Louisville, Kentucky, and heard the shots a couple of blocks away.
A policeman was injured in a car crash resulting from the chase and was taken from the shooting scene in a Medevac helicopter, a U.S. official and police said.

The grill wasn't even damaged, the head lights are all there, and the windshield or windows are not damaged. I own a Nissan Altima, (Nissan owns Infiniti) the entire front end is completely plastic. The front end would not survive ramming anything, let alone a barrier designed to keep vehicles out of restricted areas.

My guess is this is what happened. D.C. is such a cluster fuck to drive in (I've been there) and she's out of town. She took too many wrong turns, got frustrated and probably bumped the white house gates. But even then have no idea how she would even get there. That area is COMPLETELY walled off to vehicles. Even walking to the white house is a bit of a pain in the ass because of the amount of vehicle barriers.

Anyway back to my hypothesis, an "officer" noticed the distraught motorist and thought "OMG We're Under Attack" pulled his gun on the woman and called for backup. She panics and tries to get away. She gets to the capital building and every cop has their weapon drawn and pointing at her and her kid.

The rest is unfortunately history.... That's my guess on what happened and only one that makes sense to me. She wasn't armed, and had her kid with her.
