This is a playthrough of a video game which was designed like an interactive 7.5 hour movie, hence why I think it's valid to post here since it's entertaining as Hell even if you're not into video games.

Trailer

It's about a girl named Jodie who is linked to another spirit named "Aiden". This link allows Jodie to astral-project at will and effect things through astral-projection. It shows her life from ages 8-23 living with this entity and dealing with all the consequences of that, being Evil spirits targeting as well as the US government. The CIA later tries to harness her power to assassinate world leaders but she finds out about their intentions and turns on them, being hunted by the government and fighting them to protect herself.

Basically this is better than any movie Hollywood will release anytime soon. Hope you guys like it. The story originally is presented in a non-chronological fashion since when Jodie is younger there is less action (more boring to most people) so bear with the fact that this version is chronological, and it gets very kickass after a hour or so.

Actress Ellen Page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellen_Page) noted that the script for the game is around 2000 pages long.

Beyond None of which would have been possible without miles and piles of silver and gold pcboard production.

More work and effort goes into video games than movies these days. The best stories, soundtracks, and effects are put into video games. Hollywood is a joke when you compare just a game like this to them.

I agree, long time gamer here and game design, development and storyline far surpass any manufactured, PC correct crap coming out of Hollywood.

Put it at about 50/50.

I can only add 100 Degrees Below Zero as a retort for support.

Movies such as this reach previously unreached peaks as far as storytelling with raw unbridled emotion...

and sardonic rolling on the floor with gut splitting laughter. :)

Where's that link?

I found something with a walk through of some guy looking thru trash cans, and hiding behind tables waiting to strangle people.

It's a SHTF zombie apocalypse. The zombie infection is done by a fungus though. I posted the first couple of parts, you can find the others through the YouTube links.

Rule #1 in successful Hero/Star film making, never let the same hero that delivered a baby without preparation, be the same that rescues the same baby from a burning building.

The whole Hero/Star thing gets overstated to the point of unbelievable, kinda like The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest....

I should've been a Spielberg :)

Did you buy this game Shami? seems like its just a movie with occasional taps at the controller to flip the scene...

Keep in mind it's meant to be a fushion between a video game and a movie, so the player is always at the center of attention. The goal of this is to immerse the player deeper in and make a greater emotional connection to whats going on. The player has many decisions they make that effect the ending. There's literally 5 different endings too.

I didn't buy this game. I'm a purely PC gamer and this isn't out on PC. The video game was designed like a movie, and then the person who posted the video on YouTube edited it in a way to remove as much of the video game components as possible so it was seamless. Video games that are more like movies I tend to just watch on YouTube instead of buying anyways, but I do play some great games with awesome stories too. There's several video games like this that play like a movie that I'll watch on YouTube since I want to get the story, like The Last of Us and Uncharted (modern day Indiana Jones.)

If you're interested in Uncharted, here's Chapters 2 & 3 from Uncharted 3. Basically it's a flashback sequence of the main character's past as a boy, with the whole Young Indiana Jones flare. Basically you can watch it without having to know the story or anything. Chapter 3 (second video) probably has my favorite chase sequence of all time. Fun to watch:

I remember a time when people would take the time to re-port games to the PC for their replay ability. Games like these leave that excuse for doing so in the dust. Brings up some interesting topics on whether or not the PC will once again be relegated to only highend users and not the mass markets. All highend computing being done by internet controlled clouds and umbrella corp., and the masses just left holding their fascist handheld lightweight extensions.

Didn't realize this thing had 5 different endings, looked to linear.

Well the PC games that ARE available are usually more thought involved, have mods, and social. Basically PC games are for people with high attention spans, who want to think, plan, and explore. Console gamers have low attention spans, and need constant flashes and stuff. That's why I'm exclusively a PC gamer.

If you wanted to see the other endings for Beyond Two Souls:

Beyond Ending (Death): 8:43
Ryan Ending: 18:11
Jay Ending: 30:29
Zoey Ending: 34:27
Alone Ending: 37:37

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orQFxQ3upsE

I like the Zoey ending most, but that's just me. Zoey is the baby Jodie saves and ends up training to be like a spirit warrior.

There's also another partial ending where Ryan dies, but they just prevents you from selecting him as an ending.

ok, well I watched all of that. Findished it last night. Actually there were 2 parts maybe 30 mins where I was not paying attention. I enjoyed it a lot. Was a good story. There were some small gaps, obviously where game play was cut. It seemed we were somewhere, then suddenly somewhere else without any info on how we got there. For me it was a pretty good representation of how things are.

thanks for linking up.

I had always wondered when video games would merge with movies. I haven't kept up with them though unfortunately, because I don't have the time and I'm afraid I'd become addicted.

Diablo 3 is going well. This thread made me think about my all time favorite game I've played.

God Of War II

I agree.......it was like watching a Lord of The Rings Trilogy.

I Like the native american story Arc It wasnt flimsy but well thought out almost to the point where they could do a movie just about that .

Really good stuff I must say

GOW 3 was absolutely bonkers.... Kratos killed everybody but the kitchen sink... good lord when he beat the shit out of Zeues at the end they stopped showing and the screen when red with blood for like 3 minutes

I was like dammmmmmmmm.

Acension tried to caputure the former glory but it was anti climatic.

But I do love the commercial and the song is perfect.

The CG is absolutely breathtaking I dam near cant tell which is which.

Yeah GOW 3 was awesome. I knew it was going to be a killer kick ass game in the first fight when Poseidon said "it doesn't matter how many gods you kill, there will be another to take his place." And Kratos's classic response "Then they will fall as well."

The God Of War Ascension game trailer was all live action. Got my hopes up when I first saw it, thought they might of actually went and made a movie. I know Universal bought the rights to make a movie of GoW back in 05. But it's been in production hell ever since.

The Last of Us movie was pretty good as well. Worth watching. Lot of swearing though. I could do with less "f this and that" from a 13 or 14 year old character, even if it is the post apocalypse. A bit like half life with a helper.
