May our members and friends "Down Under" be not in the path of these fires and be safe.

They have been going through one hell of a drought, that I understand has been longer than what is sorta normal there.
Not Good!

yes pretty bad. It has been drier than normal in those parts. Not sure why or what but it is an early fire and very bad for so early in the season. Over on the west it's been more wet than average through winter to their drier. While we shouldn't be getting fires so soon we had a big one to the North east yesterday which blanketted this city. I'd suggest it was a proscribed burn off as it was put out by later afternoon.
I think from watching over the years, that the Govt uses bush fires quite a bit. There are some bits of land that are very special and have settlements on them they have been trying to shift for a long time. Wilsons Promintory is one that gets particular attention. I am not sure what it is about the place but they have been trying to drive people off of there for decades.
So there's the conspiracy. When I see a fire I wonder how the Govt got it going. I think sometimes if a firebug lights something up there is a Govt person somewhere lighting up other spots so they get a nice fire going. Then the bug gets stuck with the lot.
I think once all the nice thick winter undergrowth dries out we will be in for some pretty bad fires in the west. Around Christmas/New Year will be busy.

So have we heard from Serpo in the past few days? Time for a welfare check perhaps. I hope all is well.
Seems like some army demolition guys set off more than was necessary and started the fire. hmmm
