View Full Version : Throw The Bums Out

A friend sent me an email today and told me he would vote in the next election against all the incumbents, expressing confidence that this might fix the problem in Washington.

I wrote him back pointing out the following:

Our elected officials do not run our government.

Our government is run by unelected bums who bought the votes of our elected officials and tell them how to vote.

We, the people, have no representation in Washington, or on any level of government for that matter.

Getting rid of the elected officials would not solve the problem. The unelected bums who bought their votes will simply buy the votes of their replacements.

I asked him if he has a 'Plan B'?

I then offered him my impromptu solution, with the caveat--"If it can be pulled off."

Here is what I suggested:

Since our elected officials have sold their votes and take their instructions from the highest bidder, they have abandoned us, the people who elect them. Moreover, they have created an environment that assures that whoever we send to represent us will also be bought out by these high rollers, so, we, the people don't have a chance in hell of ever being represented in our government.

So, what do we have to lose by creating an option on the ballot where we can vote for "No One". That is, to leave the office vacant by choice. All it takes is for a majority of us to vote for "No One" and the vacancy option will win.

In an age of high speed mass communications, this idea will spread so fast that it could be possible that enough people create enough vacancies in the legislative bodies that they cannot assemble a quorum, and the seats that are filled will be powerless to do anything.

Where would that leave the unelected bums who now tell our 'seat fillers' how to vote? There will be no one's vote to buy (or to sell for that matter).

True we would have no representation in government--but how is that different from the status quo? No one represents us now, so we wouldn't lose anything. If no one represents us, why not make it official by keeping the seat vacant so that the usurpers of our power will also lose their purchased vote? Where would that leave them if they have no votes to buy? The government would grind to a halt.

The chief executive would have to suspend the constitution and rule by decree. How is that different from what we have now? We could see to it that his seat is vacant as well.

My view of this strategy is that it is secession at the individual level. It is a popular vote of no confidence. How many people want to 'throw the bums out?' Nearly everybody.

We need to start working now to get the 'no one' (intentional vacancy) option on the ballots in time for the next election. We, the people, have nothing to lose. We might even be able to refuse to pay taxes by claiming we have no representation and don't want any.

Think about it. I could write a lot more, but I won't. I've planted a seed in your mind, and you will make it grow, and reproduce in the minds of others. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets half way around the world before the lies can get their boots on.
