View Full Version : Have we had an endrun around the 2nd amendment?

(Gulagbound.com) There are numerous alarming reasons why the US government and the military have been buying up all the ammo. Here’s one of them. Obama and the EPA just shut down the last lead smelting plant in the US. They raised the EPA regulations by 10 fold and it would have cost the plant $100 million to comply. You can own all the guns you want, but if you can’t get ammo, you are out of luck.
http://www.noisyroom.net/blog/102913.jpg
Remember when Obama promised his minions that he was working on gun control behind the scenes? Welcome to it. Now, all domestic mined lead ore will have to be shipped overseas, refined and then shipped back to the US. Not only will ammo now be even harder to come by, the demand and the process of supply will cause the price to skyrocket even more. And ponder this… there is an excellent chance that Obama will rig the market to where all ammo has to be purchased from a government entity instituting de facto ammo registration. So much for the Second Amendment. There has not been a peep about this in the major news outlets and it is done. With the US no longer producing lead, all supplies will now have to come from China, Australia or Peru, with the overwhelming emphasis on China. More redistribution of wealth; more economic and liberty crippling of the US on tap.
The asshats at the EPA (evil protection agency) had this to say:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said the company “made a business decision” to shut down the smelter instead of installing pollution control technologies needed to reduce sulfur dioxide and lead emissions as required by the Clean Air Act.
The Doe Run Co. announced last year that it had dropped plans to build a new lead processing facility in Herculaneum that would have used a new, cleaner lead production technology. The company cited the $100 million project as too financially risky.
The EPA is playing Mafioso I guess — we didn’t make them shut down, they made a business decision. In other words, they couldn’t pay the extortion, so the thugs shut them down. I’m pretty sure that Americans are getting ready to make their own business decision regarding the Marxists and I don’t think it will be pleasant. But Marxists will do or die and are doubling down on the destruction of energy in America, our way of life and the Constitution.
The smelting plant has known since 2010 this was coming. They couldn’t stop it and no one else rose up to stop it either. The business had been in production for 120 years and now goes the way of our auto industry.
The military’s obsession with ammo was related to security and supply. They knew this was coming too, so they bought up all they could get before the plug was pulled. Screw the average American. It’s as Chris Muir said, he’s not as worried about where the bullets will come from, as much as how the government will deliver them and I’m right there with him on that one.
So, back door gun control is moving forward and while we are all distracted with shiny stuff, our Second Amendment rights are just about gone. Obama is one Marxist dictator who is savvy at political chess. He has flanked the Second Amendment. Now it’s our move.

Doe Run workers to be cut at end of December
HERCULANEUM • About 145 employees of the Doe Run lead smelter have learned they will lose their jobs at the end of December because of the plant’s closure, the Doe Run Co. said Wednesday. An additional 73 contractor jobs also will be eliminated.
The job cuts were expected. The plant, which has operated for more than a century and is the lone remaining lead smelter in the United States, announced in 2010 that it will cease operations at the end of this year.
The company cited the
$100 million project as too financially risky.
Employees were notified of their future with the company or of their impending layoff between Sept. 30 and Oct. 8 in face-to-face meetings, said Tammy Stankey, a company spokeswoman.
The company will keep about 75 employees into 2014 to operate its refinery and strip mill and to prepare the property “for closure and repurposing.” It expects to have transferred 43 employees to other Doe Run divisions by this year’s end, according to a company statement.
Some operations, such as the water treatment plant, will operate indefinitely, and a maintenance staff will remain to “maintain essential facilities,” the company said.
The company said it had been working with employees for months to help them transition to new roles and had set up a career center to help with resume writing, interviewing and job searches.
“We have a very talented workforce and encourage businesses looking for dedicated, hardworking and skilled employees to contact us,” Gary Hughes, general manager of the smelter, said in the statement.

Yep, there's always a reason for everything they do. We all thought it was to be used against us (It very may still happen) but it was to stock up on ammo because they know the only lead smelting factory in the country was closing its doors.

So they will send raw lead ore thousands of miles across the world to be refined then send back
burning thousands of gallons of fossil fuel the entire way to make a bullet.
Thanks for the clean air EPA.

Silver's an excellent choice, as it wouldn't make it thru much kevlar,
yet give us enough time to imprison them in their own FEMA camps.

I have a question for the forum, based upon this thread and a side business idea of mine... So, it seems physical lead may be in strong demand. If you could deliver a huge chunk of lead directly to an ammo manufacturer, could they cast bullets from it? Say, a 4000 pound block of lead? If you trucked it to them, what do you think they might pay for it?

Most make bullets from lead wire and not cast.

OK, so how hard would it be to turn cast into lead wire?

OK, so how hard would it be to turn cast into lead wire? Not sure if the makers cast their own wire or have third partys do it. Also it is important the purity/alloys that is in the lead they probably would not take out of spec lead. But it may be worth a try...
Who knows?

This has nothing to do with melting/smelting/anything about making bullets. It is about the company that turns dirt into lead being forced out of business. The usi just wont be able to do that anymore and will pay china to do that for them.

It takes care of a few issues for the Gov. And China will of course do it in the dirtiest, cheapest way. This will add way more pollutants to the atmoshpere than the process used in the US and we being downwind from China, will still get all the pollution they generate. This is some great government!

I will however, grab up more bricks of 22LR if I could find it. Which I have not been able to out here. Other calibers are available at high prices, but no 22LR. anyone know how many gun barrel machines are in the USA hidden...because you can make all the rest of the parts of a rifle with a metal file and metal and effort (aka work)...and a rifle to work off of.
But the barrel...the rifling is the technically difficult part.
