Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) made his late night debut on Friday, appearing on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno to discuss a wide range of issues, including gay-marriage, gun control and the potential for a future government shutdown.

“I’ve been reading a lot about you lately, and they describe you as aggressive, arrogant and abrasive. Accurate?” Leno asked to open up the show.

“I don’t know that you can believe everything you read,” Cruz jokingly countered. “You know, what I’m trying to do is do my job. And occasionally, people don’t like that.”

Leno pressed the conservative firebrand on gay-marriage, asking the Texas senator where he stands on the issue.
“I support marriage between one man and one woman,” Cruz said. “But I also think it’s a question for the states. Some states have made decisions one way on gay marriage. Some states have made decisions the other way. And that’s the great thing about our Constitution, is different states can make different decisions depending on the values of their citizens.”

The late-night host also asked Cruz about the potential for another government shutdown in the next few months.
“Are we going to have another shutdown in February?” asked Leno. “Are we going to do this again?”

“I certainly hope not,” Cruz replied, resting the blame for the previous shutdown at President Barack Obama’s feet.

Cruz is the leading edge of the force pushing the US into a civil war along the lines of the Left/Right paradigm. Then his wife's employer, Goldman Sachs, can sit back and watch America destroy itself, and pick up the spoils when the nation is destroyed. He's trying to distract us from identifying the real enemy--which are the people who bought him and the rest of our government. I cheer when I see people on the left and right finding common ground to oppose their real enemies.

I'm not falling for this cheap distraction.
