Now you just gotta believe the cops were INCENSED that anyone would get the same discount they are entitled to. Imagine!!! The NERVE of some people.

I think the IRS should be notified to see if these cops are putting their discounted donuts on the 1040 form or if the transaction is under the table.

Charles Barry went to jail hungry, after Florida police arrested him for allegedly impersonating a cop in an effort to buy discounted doughnuts.

The Trinity, Fla., resident, 48, had previously made multiple visits to Dunkin' Donuts, flashed his deceased father's New Jersey police badge and claimed to be a U.S. Marshal in order to receive discounts on doughnuts, police said.

But cops were ready Tuesday afternoon after a suspicious store clerk tipped them off.

"Yesterday, we had an undercover deputy in the store," Pasco County Sheriff's Office spokesman Douglas Tobin said. "He usually comes in at the same time. This time, he didn't show his badge, but we had enough reason to arrest him."

The previous alleged incidents occurred June 6, 7, and 12.

Police said they found a .38-caliber revolver in his pocket during the arrest, as well as ammunition in the vehicle.

Barry was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer and improper exhibition of a firearm or dangerous weapon. He was released Tuesday on $5,150 bail.

Dunkin' Donuts released a statement, saying, the company was "aware of the incident that occurred in New Port Richey, Fla. The safety and well-being of our guests and crew members is important to Dunkin' Donuts and we are pleased that the suspect has been apprehended."

Thank God they got this guy off the street. If they hadn't saved him from hisself he might have ended up in a ward for chunky people.

Wow, they actually sent in an undercover agent to wait for this guy to come in and attempt to buy donuts at a discount? I agree with palini, thank heavens that this dangerous criminal is off the streets! I feel so much safer now!

Yup. There is now room for one more donut thief on the FBI list of 'MOST WANTED'.

And it should be noted the specific amount of bail was $5,150 by some strange quirk of fate

Section 5150 is a section of the California Welfare and Institutions Code (specifically, the Lanterman–Petris–Short Act or "LPS") which allows a qualified officer or clinician to involuntarily confine a person deemed to have a mental disorder that makes him or her a danger to self, a danger to others, and/or gravely disabled. A qualified officer, which includes any California peace officer, as well as any specifically designated county clinician, can request the confinement after signing a written declaration. When used as a term, 5150 (pronounced "fifty-one-fifty") can informally refer to the person being confined or to the declaration itself, or colloquially as a verb) as in 'Someone was 5150ed'.

CALIFORNIA WELFARE AND INSTITUTIONS CODE, SECTION 5150, second paragraph, "... an application in writing stating the circumstances under which the person's condition was called to the attention of the officer, member of the attending staff, or professional person, and stating that the officer, member of the attending staff, or professional person has probable cause to believe that the person is, as a result of mental disorder, a danger to others, or to himself or herself, or gravely disabled."

Although fat and out of shape, Barry didn't seem fat enough to the store clerk, to be a cop...

Just another example that shows that laws "only" apply to J6P, even if the infraction seems ridiculous. All the while the bankers rob us blind, cops assault innocent people and anyone with a modicum of notoriety gets a free pass. Those that serve the state (government employee) get a little better than J6P, but, not as good a Mr. Leo so as not to confuse the slave that he/she is anything more than a tool.........

Over 3,000 Nonviolent Offenders Serving Life Without Parole in US Prisons

A new report from the ACLU shows that there are 3,281 prisoners in America serving life sentences, with no chance of parole for committing non-violent “crimes”. Many of these outrageous sentences are the result of strict “3 strikes” laws, mandatory minimum sentencing, and drug war persecution.
The report’s author Jennifer Turner said that the US is “virtually alone in its willingness to sentence non-violent offenders to die behind bars.” [1]
Some of these people are guilty of theft or fraud, which are legitimate crimes and violations of natural law that should certainly be dealt with. However, even these cases carry sentences that are far to harsh for the crime.
Additionally, a large portion of these people are serving life sentences for buying, selling or possessing prohibited items like certain types of drugs and guns. People who deal with guns and drugs are typically maligned in the media, but owning or trading an item does not violate anyone’s health or property, and thus is not a real crime. This goes for drugs, guns and any other object that politicians wish to prohibit.

Meanwhile those guilty of violent crimes and murder are allowed back into society... to terrorize working folks and keep shitty police officers on the street.
