Dear Reader,
Today, we’re going to look at the property you can buy in Latin America on a budget of $100,000 (or less).
That’s not a very big budget these days. But it goes a very long way in some locations. In fact, it will buy you a condo in a colonial city or a lake-view house - if you know where to look.
Read on to find out just what you can get for $100,000, or less.
Pick #1. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Condo: $89,000
http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/pfimgs/Six_Picks1.jpg This Pacific coast town has it all – great beaches, more than 600 restaurants and cafes, a lively arts and culture scene, golf and marinas and spas, buzzing nightlife and lots of expats. Its top-notch infrastructure means you won’t have to compromise on things like first-class healthcare. In fact, Puerto Vallarta’s almost impossible to beat as a lifestyle destination.
This condo is in the heart of Old Town, a short walk to dining, shopping, a weekly farmers’ market and just one block from the beach. It’s in a complex with parking and a swimming pool. The condo boasts ocean views and it’s furnished.
You can get a full information package here. (http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/ContactUs/puertovallarta/)
Pick #2. Salinas, Ecuador. Townhouse: $100,000
http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/pfimgs/Six_Picks2.jpg Salinas is a fun resort city on Ecuador’s southern Pacific coast. But it’s got lots of year-round amenities, too - supermarkets, a large produce and seafood market, restaurants and cafes, a movie theater, banks, clinics and hardware stores.
This townhouse, in a private community, is only one lot from a very nice beach in Salinas. The three-bed two-bath home has ocean views from the master bedroom. The front porch overlooks the communal swimming pool. You can get a full information package here. (http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/ContactUs/salinasresales/)
Pick #3. Cuenca, Ecuador. Condo: $79,000
http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/pfimgs/Six_Picks3.jpg The city of Cuenca in Ecuador’s southern highlands boasts perfect weather - warm and sunny by day and cool at night. It’s an arty, cultural place, hosting 200 events a year, including opera, jazz and film festivals.
Cuenca is regularly voted the world’s top retirement destination. Yet it’s still very affordable.
This two-bed two-bath condo covers 946 square feet. It’s in a good downtown location and comes with a parking space and storage. You can get more details here. (http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/ContactUs/ecuadorpf/)
Pick #4. Boquete, Panama. Fixer-upper house on 2 acres: $99,000
http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/pfimgs/Six_Picks4.jpg In Panama’s cool highlands, the town of Boquete is famous as a retirement hot spot. But its popularity came with a downside – soaring real estate prices.
The market in Boquete, heavily reliant on American buyers, has slowed in recent years. Today, Boquete is still as desirable as ever, but property prices are more realistic.
Just 15 minutes from downtown Boquete, this property includes a fixer-upper house set in 2 acres of land, much of it planted with coffee trees, for $99,000. You could remodel the house. Or you could turn it into a guest house and build your dream home. You can request more information here. (http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/ContactUs/boquetepf/)
Pick #5. Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic. Condo: $72,000
http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/pfimgs/Six_Picks7.JPG Las Terrenas is postcard-perfect. Warm waters lap unspoiled beaches, backed by steep hills covered in coconut palms. You’ll also find upscale restaurants, a French bakery, a gourmet ice-cream store and even a Turkish sauna. And this island hideaway has a surprise twist: strong rental yields. Your vacation home here can cover its keep and even make a handsome profit.
This one-bed one-bath condo is in a quiet residential area. It’s close to shopping, restaurants, cafes and the beaches. It’s finished to a high standard and has a private terrace. You can request more information here. (http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/ContactUs/lasterrenaspf/)
Pick #6. Arenal, Costa Rica. Furnished House: $89,000
http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/pfimgs/Six_Picks6.jpg Arenal is overlooked and undervalued. That’s surprising – it’s a wonderfully scenic location with mountains, pastures, forests and volcanoes wrapped around a huge lake.
You’ll find good food, a great outdoors lifestyle and an active expat community here - and some incredibly affordable real estate deals.
This newly-remodeled two-bed lake-view home is a minute’s walk to a public park and the lake and the famous German bakery. The house is move-in ready, fully furnished and comes with new appliances. You can ask for more details here. (http://www.pathfinderinternational.net/ContactUs/arenalpf/)
So, six picks that prove that a $100,000 budget will go a long way.
If you’re interested in any of these properties, contact the real estate agents today to get a full information package - before someone else beats you to it.

Here's a price list for property at Galt's Gulch, Chile:

http://galtsgulchchile.com/real-estate/23/lot-prices

Seems reasonable to me. It's just for the land though. But it's reasonable.

You have to take into account the 'total cost of ownership' when you buy land or real estate anywhere. That includes property taxes, condo fees, even income taxes. It also includes non-monetary risks--such as the crime rate, political stability, infrastructure, and the justice system in the place where your property is located. You could be taken for a major ride if you don't look at these things. That might explain why Detroit's not on the list, gunDriller.
