Woman pulls porcupine quills from crow's face

"A wild raven perched himself on our fence and squawked for over an hour. I went to see what was up with him and saw that he had four porcupine quills stuck in him, three in the side of his face and one in his wing.

This video shows my Mom taking out the ones in his face. Very bizarre he let us get that close and even more bizzare he let my Mom pull the quills out. He hung around for the day and was gone the next."

Very intelligent bird! I have heard if you shoot one of them, you will never see another one the next time you bring your rifle out.

This summer our cat attacked one of them, a smaller kind of crow, it took a few of its feathers off. It flew off and landed on our outhouse roof, and started crowing. Pretty soon there were a dozen or so of this crow, sitting in trees and rooftops of our property, looking at our cat. I am pretty sure they were getting ready to attack the cat, so I took him in... He wouldn't stand a chance!

That crow was probably raised by people. I wonder if they fed him. It was not a purely wild bird.

You don't even have to shoot one, they know that you're stalking them trying to get close enough to get a shot. When I was growing up they would stay well clear of me when I was carrying a shotgun. Crows are far more intelligent than other wild birds, at least they show they are. The crows KNEW when I was carrying a shotgun, I tried faking them out with a board and the crows could apparently spot the difference. Weird.
