.....my neighbor has a small cattle farm and a few hundred acres. Yesterday when I was leaving the house I noticed smoke raising over the roof of an out building he has near the road. At first I thought he was just burning brush, but then I saw commotion going on and the smoke turned acrid. I ran across the street to see 2 of those plastic calf houses fully engulfed in flames. My neighbors son was running for the backhoe to try and smother the flames as his wife and his father were collecting buckets of water to throw on the fire. Another passer by was trying desperately to extinguish one of the calves to no avail, while I was able to free another 8 from their connected enclosures. Minutes seemed like hours as we beat back the flames as best we could with water and raking away the grass. Finally the neighbors son was successful in smothering the flames with dirt. When it was all over they lost one calf to the initial fire, and the second one had to be shot moments after the fire was out. But it could have been much worse...... much much worse. Right place at the right time but I pray I never see anything like that again. Real life..........

After giving thanks to the good lord for health strenght and protection.
I would make it my business to keep quite about the incident because there is no shortage of local athourity beuaracrats that will exploit that incident
For increased control and harrassment with fines codes and new regulations.
Im glad that your neighbors loss was minimal

The advantage of living in an unincorporated area is the lack of corporate control.

Why do you say in one breath the states are subdivisions of the government and in another breath its unincorporated and lacks control?
I mean WTF!
Do you understand what being incorporated is and to what?

Why do you say in one breath the states are subdivisions of the government and in another breath its unincorporated and lacks control? Should YOU be incorporated into government of whatever sort then YOU are the one being incorporated ... the laws attach to YOU. The land doesn't care.
Do you understand what being incorporated is and to what? Do YOU? Part of being incorporated is 12 USC 411 should YOU be found with a single FRN in your pocket as you may only hold these as an AGENT of the Federal Reserve.

Aren't all Counties in the U. S. incorporated? Where is there a square inch of space in America that is unincorporated? All the Sheriffs in the U. S. enforce that corporate control (in the name of the 'citizens', of course). Also, the Federal government is incorporated and assumes control of everything that happens in the whole country.
Now, if they don't know about something, that is a different matter. Try to control something you don't know about.

Why don't you guys stop derailing threads? There really should be a 7th Trump and Palani subforum for you guys...
Camp, thanks for sharing this story. The world would be a better place if there were more folks like yourself, who step up, and help when needed. There's a lot of good out there, givers, and we tend to talk about more of the evil takers in this world.
Great thread, and thanks for sharing!

I'd say your neighbor is feeling pretty damned blessed today, first to have good folks as his neighbors and second that the fire wasn't at his home.

That neighbor is never going to forget it either. There's no way you can really thank someone for helping out like that...you just pay it forward. That neighbor I bet will be the first to help someone else out in the future...
And that way, the world just becomes a better place, one good deed at a time.

Thank you for the kind replies folks.....you know, it was never even a thought to NOT help out, just a matter of trying to assess a dire situation and figure out how BEST to help out. The other passer by that stopped sacraficed his winter jacket trying to extinguish that poor calf, and I suffered a well deserved bite from their Austrailian Sheppard when I went running straight at the daughter-in-law to grab the water buckets.
We had 25 MPH sustained winds yesterday and I truly believe that even a few minutes more and we wouldn't have been able to keep it contained. True to farm life, there are plenty of outbuildings and other flamable items that could have spread the flames through the entire farm. When it was all over we just kind of stood around....no one said much. I told them I was sorry and they said thank you for helping. The whole thing was just surreal....I left there tired and covered in ash, thankful, happy, sad, horrified.....
And all I was going to do was run to the store for beer.......

Aren't all Counties in the U. S. incorporated? They are created by an act of legislature. However there are no people in any county. The body politic of a county consists of villages, cities and townships. They are administrative subdivisions of government in relation to the states as the state government is in relation to the federal government.
Where is there a square inch of space in America that is unincorporated? Actually all around you but less so in cities and villages. Think of the state as being a vacuum company .. a corporation. They establish territories for their various salesmen (call them counties) to vend their wares in. They do this so that there is no ambiguity between sales territories. To assist them in their sales efforts they places signs along the road such as LEAVING THE COUNTY OF .... or ENTERING THE COUNTY OF ....
All the Sheriffs in the U. S. enforce that corporate control (in the name of the 'citizens', of course). Can't argue with you there (and wouldn't if I could). Sheriffs enforce the territorial control of the vacuum salesman so that fights don't break out between them.
Also, the Federal government is incorporated and assumes control of everything that happens in the whole country. The country to them is their body politic ... their 14th amendment 'created' citizens. And they do take an interest in those with this status .... wherever they might happen to be found ... even in N Korea. They also take an interest in people who use their Federal Reserve notes because when you commit fraud by using them you are using a federal benefit.
Now, if they don't know about something, that is a different matter. They know more than you think they might. You can't spit on a gravel road without someone knowing you did it.
Try to control something you don't know about. Tell me about it. I recently applied for a federal benefit and they required I sign a form giving up any right to all frequencies. Now tell me what I am supposed to do if I ever go to court? Anything I speak contains frequencies that now belong to the feds. My image is the reflection of light that contains frequencies so that even what the judge sees (should he spot me standing in court) I have no right to. [I thought this might be an interesting test case should the matter ever come up.]
