BOSTON (Reuters) - A cybercrime firm says it has uncovered at least six ongoing attacks at U.S. merchants whose credit card processing systems are infected with the same type of malicious software used to steal data from Target Corp.

I think most of us here are on the lookout for something that will tip our financial system out of balance. I'm starting to think that this credit card security issue might have an important role in this direction. It is so central to our global commerce system, and it's such a big part of our "faith" in the financial system. These are very visible signs of cracks in the system and the cracks seem to be spreading, rather than it be an isolated event.

Make fun of FRNs all you want, but make sure you have a few on hand.

I think this cyber security issue is significant enough to bump up the Revolving Credit component of the SHTF Index. (http://gold-silver.us/forum/showthread.php?57766-Suggestions-for-a-SHTF-Index/page2&highlight=shtf+index)

I read he said he met Snowden and he tipped him how to do it. Don't know for sure.

I think the banks can skim credit card holders accounts and blame it on hackers.

It appears that the credit cards hacked were not the major cards like Visa and MasterCard, but are individual retailer charge cards, like for Target and for Neiman Marcus. "Three other major retailers" who are not named are the latest credit cards involved.

Speaking from my usual abode, the Conspiracy Corner, I think we might at least entertain the idea that "THEY" are doing these security attacks so that people will stop having charge cards at individual retail stores. People will more and more only have the major credit cards. And then "THEY" will do something to make there only be one major credit card company, and then "THEY" will say we have to ditch the plastic cards and just get a chip so we can wave our arm over the scanner or something like that. I know, I know, "I'm crazy!"
