View Full Version : 1 Student Injured in Shooting at SC State Dorm

Officials at South Carolina State University say a student has been injured in a shooting ouside an on-campus dorm.
The university sent out an alert saying the student was hurt Friday afternoon at the Hugine Suites. The school says police are looking for four suspects who made it off campus. The name and condition of the student has not been released.
The school wasn't initially placed on lockdown, but police decided to secure the campus about an hour after the shooting. Sirens were sounded and police secured gates leading into the school.
University Police Chief Mernard Clarkson says the school was locked down to keep the suspects from returning and that students are safe.
South Carolina State University is a historically black university with about 3,200 students in Orangeburg, about 40 miles south of Columbia.
