I thought you'd all enjoy this.

The riot police are using some ancient formations and tactics to suppress these street protesters. They've obviously drilled it and it's very effective.

It speaks volumes of you all that the moment I saw this, I came here and only here to post it.

Formation is easily defeated.

Molotov cocktail right in the middle. They'll spread like cock roaches when the lights turn on.

Like playing chess, too bad the pawns have no firepower in return. Don't think it would play this nice in the USi

I've heard of an ancient french potion that gives special powers to defeat roman formations.

Yes, viewing the recent pictures from kiev seems to drive that point home.

Fire is used at 5:40 in the video. "Like I give a fuck" is also used by the police. They just put it out and keep pushing.

I am starting to think this is a staged or training video. I think it is interesting how they systematically hold formation and slowly separate, divide and conquer the crowd.

Looks like a training video to me...or a halftime show for the Stuper Bowl

EE? it is nothing but a show.........I would use the BULL or SPEAR tactic formation from the Zulu tribe to defeat them.

Yes, the crowd responds too uniformly.

I guess they're expecting something.

Like Ares said. My first thought was a nicely lobbed molotov would cure that up. Training/intimidation bout sums it up.......

It's great to see you posting again, NE. Been a long time since I saw something from you.

This has to be a training video. If it were real, the cops would be making arrests and hauling people off to a paddy wagon somewhere. You would see much more violence from the police. If we see riots in the United States, we will also see videos of newer crowd control technology such as the microwave blaster that makes your skin burn, or the sound blaster that makes your ears hurt--plus a lot of beatings, and even shootings. The cops are there to end the riot, not to engage in a sport.

Training excersise as crowds are extremely dynamic.

Also all it would take is a small commited group of rebels to bust up that formation.

The key is the the flanks and also to strike at the feet if possible

Also a few well lobbed moltoves will have them scattering.

Fear of fire is primordial .

No matter how much gear you have on if you see it burning you will panic and so will others.

Great vid, great tactics.. against a few untrained, unmotivated, unarmed rebels. What I say is that the police don't want to fight, at .40 when the flanks advanced and withdrew the middle should have opened up and gave the reserves room to go through and advance and destroy through the heart.

But like you all said, apparently they don't want to fight, few molotovs, little home made tear gas, it's over.... People that can fight or have the wherewithal to try.
