On Friday, the Wall Street Journal published (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/01/25/silicon-valley-firm-shocked-by-founders-comparison-of-the-rich-in-america-to-jews-in-nazi-germany/) a letter from billionaire venture capitalist Tom Perkins in which he compares the progressive war on the one percent in America today to Nazi Germany’s singling out of Jews in the 1930s. Perkins’ comments have gained so much attention, the venture capital firm he founded has actually denounced his remarks. But on radio this morning, Glenn explained why he agrees with Perkins’ sentiment.

“There is an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal that came out over the weekend that every American should see,” Glenn said on radio this morning. “I think Tom is right… He is a hero. He is a hero. Somebody needs to say it. It is the same seed.”

Regarding your editorial “Censors on Campus” (http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303465004579322773368846510) (Jan. 18): Writing from the epicenter of progressive thought, San Francisco, I would call attention to the parallels of fascist Nazi Germany to its war on its “one percent,” namely its Jews, to the progressive war on the American one percent, namely the “rich.”
From the Occupy movement to the demonization of the rich embedded in virtually every word of our local newspaper, the San Francisco Chronicle, I perceive a rising tide of hatred of the successful one percent. There is outraged public reaction to the Google buses carrying technology workers from the city to the peninsula high-tech companies which employ them. We have outrage over the rising real-estate prices which these “techno geeks” can pay. We have, for example, libelous and cruel attacks in the Chronicle on our number-one celebrity, the author Danielle Steel, alleging that she is a “snob” despite the millions she has spent on our city’s homeless and mentally ill over the past decades.
This is a very dangerous drift in our American thinking. Kristallnacht was unthinkable in 1930; is its descendent “progressive” radicalism unthinkable now?

Kristallnacht

A massive, coordinated attack on Jews throughout the German Reich onthe night of November 9, 1938, into the next day, has come to be knownas Kristallnacht or The Night of Broken Glass.
The attack came after Herschel Grynszpan, a 17 year old Jew living inParis, shot and killed a member of the German Embassy staff there in retaliationfor the poor treatment his father and his family suffered at the handsof the Nazis in Germany.
On October 27, Grynszpan's family and over 15,000 other Jews, originallyfrom Poland, had been expelled from Germany without any warning. They wereforcibly transported by train in boxcars then dumped at the Polish border.
For Adolf Hitler and Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels, the shootingin Paris provided an opportunity to incite Germans to "rise in bloodyvengeance against the Jews."

On November 9, mob violence broke out as the regular German police stoodby and crowds of spectators watched. Nazi storm troopers along with membersof the SS and Hitler Youth beat and murdered Jews, broke into and wreckedJewish homes, and brutalized Jewish women and children.
All over Germany, Austria and other Nazi controlled areas, Jewish shopsand department stores had their windows smashed and contents destroyed.Synagogues were especially targeted for vandalism, including desecrationof sacred Torah scrolls. Hundreds of synagogues were systematically burnedwhile local fire departments stood by or simply prevented the fire fromspreading to surrounding buildings.
About 25,000 Jewish men were rounded up and later sent to concentrationcamps where they were often brutalized by SS guards and in some cases randomlychosen to be beaten to death.
The reaction outside Germany to Kristallnacht was shock and outrage,creating a storm of negative publicity in newspapers and among radio commentatorsthat served to isolate Hitler's Germany from the civilized nations andweaken any pro-Nazi sentiments in those countries. Shortly after Kristallnacht,the United States recalled its ambassador permanently.
In Germany, on November 12, top Nazis, including Hermann Göringand Joseph Goebbels, held a meeting concerning the economic impact of thedamage and to discuss further measures to be taken against the Jews. SSleader Reinhard Heydrich reported 7500 businesses destroyed, 267 synagoguesburned (with 177 totally destroyed) and 91 Jews killed.
Heydrich requested new decrees barring Jews from any contact with Germansby excluding them from public transportation, schools, even hospitals,essentially forcing them into ghettos or out of the country. Goebbels saidthe Jews would be made to clean out the debris from burned out synagogueswhich would then be turned into parking lots.
At this meeting it was decided to eliminate Jews entirely from economiclife in the Reich by transferring all Jewish property and enterprises to'Aryans,' with minor compensation given to the Jews in the form of bonds.
Regarding the economic impact of the damage from Kristallnacht and theresulting massive insurance claims, Hermann Göring stated the Jewsthemselves would be billed for the damage and that any insurance moneydue to them would be confiscated by the State.
"I shall close the meeting with these words," said Göring,"German Jewry shall, as punishment for their abominable crimes, etcetera, have to make a contribution for one billion marks. That will work.The swine won't commit another murder. Incidentally, I would like to saythat I would not like to be a Jew in Germany."

He has to do that so he can steer the sheep away later with 10% of his message that will get them to give money to freedom works, tea party candidates, buy his books, go to his public appearances, and generally do NOTHING that would actually change something for themselves or the shape the country/world is in.
