Probably more to do with ensuring correct posture so that digestion is enhanced as much as possible. Just like chewing your food 32 times before swallowing. This is to ensure that the digestive enzymes that are included with the food we receive to enable us to digest it and receive it's nutritional benefit. Now who would have thunk that? People just thinks it's and old wives tale.... but like many such things it has truth in it that science eventually accepts without really understanding how it was known to old wives and they had to discover it the hard way.
