CHP, Firefighters Make Peace After Testy Exchange, Arrest
(http://news.yahoo.com/video/chp-firefighters-peace-testy-exchange-072000549.html)2:17

Good thing it was caught on camera, or it would be tough to believe: A California Highway Patrol officer put an on-duty Chula Vista firefighter in handcuffs for refusing to move his truck while tending to victims of a car crash.
As he was being handcuffed on the side of the 805 Freeway near Orange County, the firefighter, 12-year veteran Jacob Gregoire, told reporters (http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2014/02/05/chp-fire-department-make-peace-in-chula-vista-after-testy-exchange-arrest/) who had gathered, "I just want to let you all know he’s arresting me."
Later, according to CBS News 8 (http://www.cbs8.com/story/24637357/chp-handcuffs-firefighter-in-dispute-at-crash-scene), Gregoire told the arresting officer, whose name has not been released, "It’s unbelievable you guys have to treat us like this. We are trying to help you guys."
The officer replied, "We asked you to clear the road, you said ‘No.’ You are being arrested for not moving."
Gregoire was reportedly detained in the back of a highway patrol car for several minutes before being released. He was not charged.
Chula Vista Fire Chief Dave Hanneman told CBS, "To detain one of our firefighters in the middle of an incident is ridiculous."
In a statement (http://www.chulavistaca.gov/Whats_New/details.asp?NewsID=2398), Hanneman praised the firefighters for doing what they were trained to do — protecting the scene of an accident with their trucks.
Hanneman told the San Diego Union-Tribune (http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/feb/05/firefighter-chp-handcuffed-freeway/), "The CHP is going to investigate. I think a lot of this had to do with communication."
The Union-Tribune reports the car accident resulted in two injuries. One person was hospitalized.
The two sides have since made peace. In a joint statement, representatives from the police and fire departments announced this was an "isolated incident and not representative of the manner in which our agencies normally work together toward our common goal," CBS Los Angeles (http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2014/02/05/chp-fire-department-make-peace-in-chula-vista-after-testy-exchange-arrest/) reported.

Is this satire? This could not possibly have happened. Too far fetched to believable.

Cheers mick. You know I'm at the point I don't know what to believe anymore. Anything from our media, a lot of these stories, are so far out there I think we are being flooded with misinformation, to distract us, from the real issue.

Take it from me. I was a firefighter. No fucking way any cop would EVER put their cuffs on us. It just wouldn't happen.

These crazy stories are a mask for something ominous lurking beneath.

When your only tool is a hammer every problem looks like a nail - couldn't be truer in this case. Buncha brain-dead morons.

Are you saying you would resist arrest* under the circumstances?? Or are you clinging to some cherished delusion that cops hold firefighters and EMTs in as high regard as they think of themselves?

*The pencil dick morons take serious offense to those who disrespect them

These gangs that rule the streets with guns and prey off the misery of common people are not really cops anymore.

In ILLinois, the FD has top jurisdiction on the scene until they turn it over. They can tell the cops to fuck off or they themselves will be arrested.

What's the rules in Cali solid?

Frat Bro Busted For Urinating On Cop's Head
Reveler, 19, facing assault charge for his stream of lawlessness

FEBRUARY 6--When police arrived to break up a raucous 3:20 AM frat house party Sunday, an upstate New York man allegedly decided that it was the opportune moment to urinate directly down onto a cop from an elevated sniper's nest, according to investigators.

Responding to a disturbance call, Albany Police Department officers arrived at the ramshackle Hudson Avenue property early Sunday morning and “observed several people inside and outside of the residence consuming alcohol and causing a loud commotion,” police reported.

The property is home to Pi Kappa Phi, an outlaw fraternity that is not recognized by the University at Albany due to its history of hazing.

As officers sought to “quell the disturbance,” Noah McCall, 19, “urinated off the rear staircase directly onto a uniformed police officer,” police noted. McCall’s urine fell “onto the head and face” of a cop, who subsequently received treatment at a local hospital for “bodily fluid exposure,” according to an arrest report.

McCall, pictured in the adjacent mug shot, was quickly apprehended and charged with reckless assault on the damp patrolman (as well as possession of a phony Florida driver's license). A second partygoer, a 19-year-old college student, was arrested for possession of brass knuckles. Both defendants were released from custody following arraignment in Albany City Criminal Court.

On McCall’s Facebook page--which is stocked with images of him partying--one photo shows the teenager posing on the second-floor balcony of the Albany frat house. The captions reads, “470 Hudson. Home of The Dons.”

The CHP has jurisdiction on all roads in CA including numbered dirt fire/service roads. Read Blacks for the def of highway.

Depends upon the nature of the call/scene. A structure fire, absolutely. Car accidents where there are injuries, yes. For example, one slow night at the firehouse, we were watching the news. The police were in a high speed car chase. The car crashed in our district. Seeing it crash on TV, we were already geared up and jumping on the engine before we even got the call. Once we arrived on scene, the cops had it secure, but we took over because the guy was injured. Most cases cops and firefighters work together and it's common sense. Stories like this one (if true) never seem to happen.

Hitcher, how long have you been out of the LE/FD business? Seems like a lot has changed in the last few years.

I remember watching COPS in high school (mid 90s) and enjoyed watching the bad guys get busted. I saw an episode about 5 years ago and I couldn't tell who were supposed to be the good guys and who were supposed to be the bad guys. I thought they were just hamming it up for the camera at the time, but I don't think so anymore.

About 7 years or so, and I agree things have changed a lot in the past few years. LE is definitely getting more militarized and high tech.
