Been watching episodes of this show from the late 1950s and early 1960s. It's all about self-reliance, morality, loyalty, integrity, manhood, courage, raising children the right way, helping people in need, doing the right thing, good-versus-evil, property rights, prepping for the future, and protecting your assets and well-being through responsible use of firearms. Does any of this sound familiar? Great old show.

Interestingly, The Rifleman was the brainchild of Sam Peckinpah and you will note him being the director of some of the (early) episodes.

Yup, ol' Lucas McCain had himself an assault rifle.

Maybe it's time for a new show called "The Rifle-less-man"?

A show about a metro/homosexual-male that turns in his dad's rifle for the right to smoke pot. The show is about being reliant on government, immorality, feminism, supporting gay rights and socialism, being consumed with facebook and bitcoins, turning in your neighbor for not looking out for the environment, teaching kids there is no God, that ejaculating into another man's rectum is a beautiful natural act of love and that raising a child by two homosexuals is good for child and society.

The town is run by two bull dykes that relentlessly push for more rights than heterosexual couples and they are helped by a Jewish group of Jesus-haters that move into town to extract the wealth of the towns people.
Most of the towns hetero's complain a lot, but do nothing about thier grievances because they are too busy watching Jewish TV shows, football and trading bitcoins.

Does any of this sound familiar?

The brave new world of Amerika is one that has a honed fear of guns except when the police are using them to shoot your family dog. There is a great respect for lying politicians and government agencies who are the masters of this lost generation. Amerikans have grown up knowing that safety through socialist efforts is the only way to peace and happiness. They have been taught that rugged individualists are mentally unstable and need to have their liberties removed for the common good. They believe that higher taxes are good for all except those who prefer to live off those taxes.

How long will an apple still look like an apple when it is loaded with worms eating its inside?

That's great, but...he'd better not mention in school he watches the show. Morality, self-reliance and the responsible use of firearms will not be tolerated in the school system! You will get a visit from the corporate police.

On a side note the show was circa 1881, the rifle used (Winchester 1892) wasn't invented until 1892.

In the episode I watched tonight, a young woman always carries two $10 gold eagles with her because her dad doesn't like her being without money.

From tonight's episode, Lucas talking to his son Mark about losing a town or a country:

Lucas: "It takes more than just guns to hold a town. No, son, the time a town or even a country is really lost is when the people who live in it get careless and stop paying attention to how it's being run."

Mark: "You mean like the Roman Empire."

Lucas: "100% right. By knowing the mistakes people made hundreds of years ago we can learn a lesson and profit by not making the same mistakes ourselves."
