I know we talked about this before but I was reminded tonight as I looked at the huge moon halo.

Came back out with my cheap bright flashlight and shit is falling, like dust everywhere. Thought it was me dragging dust from my clothes or the house... nope. I could get some to land on my finger but I don't know where my kids microscope is.

Has anyone checked this out with a microscope? I can't find anything on jewtube (wonder why) and am interested. If I found the microdeal I could simply wet a slide and get on with it and will eventually.

But my major concern is filtering the house rooms, I have a decent filter but it is large noisy and windy. And right now big capital is not available. Aside of wearing wet rags around our faces what options do we have? It would help to know what I am trying to filter though.

On that note I want to rid myself of whatever it is we have been breathing forever. We did the black light thing before we moved and it was so disturbing I went into dormancy. I came out tonight and want to do something now. I have a big bag of DE (Diatomaceous earth) and they say 1 teaspoon a day in water. Will this work?

If this should be moved somewhere else than the general forum please do because I am seriously looking to at least try to do something. After that snow test shit and were supposed to get more in a day or two I have time to research your suggestions. I don't know you guys from a new shoe salesman but would trust you before anyone else.

TIA Cebu

That would be a good idea for a youtube video.

Wonder how/if you could make a video down into the microscope easily?

My kid has done it with telescopes however he is at that age of smoking dope/not giving a fuck. I just want to find his gift he never uses and utilize it. I have a note on the fridge to "give me the fuc_ing microscope" I just dont have a camera that can video anything. If I did photo shots it would obviously be called a scam. Lesson learned give the kid 1000 worth of instruments get back back talk. Wish it was different but I didn't have the chance.

I will ask for the thing on the fridge. Tomorrow snow day so I can accomplish a couple things that bother me.

What about the filters? Manbony said something that fell away from my bookmarks that gets minute filtration. But at 180 each I am in no position like a prison dentist to accomplish.

Has to be something simple, the more costly and confusing and usually works less efficiently.

I did a search but without the particular brand name I draw a loss.

Microsofts microscope had a computer hook up so you could record. I think the resolution was average. Probably others around.

edit ah ok, slow to post this.

Thanks! More into using electrical tape to adhere a camera to the eye piece deal. I got the kid a microscope with 2 eye pieces from a lab gone out of business so it really should be good. I don't think these nanoparticles are nano unless dust size and larger are considered nano.

This stuff just bothers me before I can trudge along.

Microscope - We got a bunch of snow last night and I went out with a slide and it got covered and melted. First look I couldn't believe all the crap in there so I asked my wife to let some snow land on another fresh slide, we did this 3 times. DO NOT EAT this stuff LOL. In all 3 attempts there were threads and chunks of black stuff. I assume the nano metals they spray in the sky was what the little splinter looking objects were, they also appeared to be transparent.

I don't know anything about microscopes, I could only use the 10x and 40x bits, the eye pieces are also 10x so that's 400x? There are 2 stronger bits but being the microscope genius I am just couldn't get them to focus. I realize there would be some crap in there but not this much!

I need to figure out how to use this thing, the splinter things look very interesting. Also need to figure out how to take pictures.

EDIT This one is the one we have:

If the room is completely dark,

can you use the eyepiece as a projector onto a piece of paper?

may have to cover those heat sink holes on the microscopes lamp temporarily to remove any backlight.

No snow here this year but is finally raining......have a super sensitive radiation detector (it is used to check your food) and up till now it checks out ok outside.

came across a thread where these guys mad a microscope from a WebCam.

http://hackteria.org/?p=1637

Apparently you can get software that helps you count things in a field of view. I'm getting this via home brewing threads. Some guy wanted to count his yeast to get an idea of pitching ratios - how much yeasties he is putting in his beer that is extrapolated from a sample.

I haven't done this and I'm unsure of the exact instructions. but I think they are on the page linked.
