Using economic sanctions to influence Israel (http://topics.bloomberg.com/israel/)’s policies toward the Palestinians is a “new form of anti-Semitism,” Economy Minister Naftali Bennett said, even as boycott activists contended that recent successes had Israeli leaders “panicking.”
Bennett told a Jerusalem (http://topics.bloomberg.com/jerusalem/) conference of American-Jewish leaders today that despite boycott efforts, Israel continued to draw record foreign investment, especially in its technology sector.
“I’m not at all ignoring this sort of threat, but let’s be very clear: Anyone who suggests to boycott Israel, that’s an unacceptable approach, that’s a new form of anti-Semitism,” Bennett said. He asked conference participants to campaign against boycotts.Finance Minister Yair Lapid and other Israeli officials have warned that the sanctions’ still-negligible economic effect may deepen after several European companies and institutions cut ties in recent months with Israeli companies that operate in east Jerusalem and the West Bank (http://topics.bloomberg.com/west-bank/). Palestinians claim the territories, captured by Israel in 1967, for a future state.
The sanctions campaign also won a higher profile after actress Scarlett Johansson (http://topics.bloomberg.com/scarlett-johansson/)cut her ties last month with the U.K.-based humanitarian group Oxfam, which criticized her for acting as a celebrity spokeswoman for SodaStream International Ltd. (SODA) (http://www.bloomberg.com/quote/SODA:US), the Israeli maker of home soda machines with a factory in the West Bank.
Boycott leaders, meeting today in the West Bank near Ramallah, said a decade of activism was bearing fruit.
The boycott initiative has “reached a tipping point in its struggle for comprehensive Palestinian rights under international law,” said Omar Barghouti, a founder of BDS, the Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions movement. “The Israeli government is panicking because of the recent fast growth of BDS around the world, particularly in countries that have always been considered Israel’s closest allies in the world: the U.S., Germany (http://topics.bloomberg.com/germany/), the Netherlands, among others.”

Is like an ancient script that is read over and over again in a month of Saturdays.

I thought boycott was a jewish concept or a hebrew word or something. Basically they came up with the whole concept of boycotting things. The soda stream story is interesting from a BEER point of view. Looking into ways to carbonate beer and many people have hacked soda stream cylinders to do the job. I didn't know the company was Israeli.

I looked at their CO2 cylinders and they have this license to use stuck on them. Big stickers. So basically I can buy a cylinder or a soda stream device with cylinder but I have to adhere to a license agreement that is not unlike a software agreement you would get from Apple or Microsoft. I thought it was pretty weird at the time but now it makes more sense. Anyway I passed on that option. <---- oh oh jungo

The irony is exquisite: the Palestinians are semitic - the Zionists are not.

From the masters of double think... George Orwell didn't invent the concept from thin air, he was inspired by the Soviet Bolshevik propaganda machine. Which was headed and completely controlled by communist Jews, where they accused their enemies of the crimes they themselves committed...

Remember that boycotted Germany in 1933 and placed adds in newspapers all over the place.......it was a declaration of war on Herr Hitler.......and then they wondered why they were hated?

comment .................. Israel should just relax because she is immune to all laws even the laws of GOD ..................................... Anything that doesn't put Israel in the drivers seat is "Anti-Semitic". It's a worn out word that doesn't catch much attention anymore by it's over use. Besides the real Semites have long been absorbed into other cultures. The Jews today came from western Central Asia and were forced to keep moving west until they got to Germany. From Germany they went to their Promised Land. Semites --indeed
