Deep down, the Ukrainians don't want there to be a different government in Kiev—they don't want there to be a government in Kiev at all.

I've said that before, Ukraine is a geographically anomalous country in Europe. The western Ukrainian seem a remnant race much like a wondering gypsy jew, or unfit Poles.
