MILLER: Huge majorities on East Coast support national gun registry

A shocking poll released Tuesday shows overwhelming majorities of people in Virginia, New York and New Jersey support a national gun registry.
The survey released Tuesday was done jointly by Roanoke College in Virginia (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/roanoke-college-in-virginia/), Rutgers (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/rutgers/)-Eagleton in New Jersey and Siena College in New York (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/siena-college-in-new-york/). It shows that 68 percent of New York voters and a whopping 74 percent of New Jersey voters are in favor of establishing a national gun registry.

Even in the southern state of Virginia — which has gone blue in recent years — 63 percent want the federal government to track all guns.
NRA (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/nra/) Spokesman Andrew Arulanandam (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/andrew-arulanandam/) pointed out that the poll appears skewed.
“Given the exceptionally high numbers of support for President Obama and Hillary Clinton (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/hillary-clinton/) in this poll, it isn’t surprising that there would be high numbers of support for draconian gun control proposals,” he told me.
The poll does seem skewed with too many liberals and Democrats. None of the colleges said they asked party affiliation of the respondents.
For example, Mr. Obama got favorable approval from 57 percent of New York residents, which is far all other surveys that show the president having the support of less than a majority.
Mrs. Clinton (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/hillary-clinton/)’s approvals ranged from 65 percent in New York to 56 percent in Virginia.

The survey is also suspect since a CNN poll in the middle of the gun control debate on Capitol Hill last April showed only 44 percent of Americans supported a national firearms registry.
Mr. Arulanandam (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/andrew-arulanandam/) added that, “The five million NRA members an in sync with every reasonable law-abiding American who opposes gun registries and wants law enforcement resources used to ensure existing gun laws are enforced — and those who break these laws are arrested, prosecuted and punished.”
In addition, the overwhelming support of voters for a registry stands in contrast to the Constitution.
The Founding Fathers wrote the Second Amendment primarily to prevent government tyranny. If Washington knows the details of every gun owned by an American citizen, then it opens the door to confiscation.
Voters need to get educated on the impact of a federal gun registration on their personal freedoms and our nation’s future.

Just remember, the 'pollsters' are authority figures. People are willing to believe lies that authority figures tell them. Just like they are willing to abandon their own moral sense if asked to by authorities. Authority is a religion. So, when they tell you that a huge majority wants gun control, who are you to question this lie? Do you have the means for exposing this claim as a lie? Some of us do with our own web sites--the internet has leveled the playing field to expose these lies. But the vast majority do not dig deeper than the MSM sources, and are hypnotized by authority, so the liars usually win.

Very true, the sheep are thick and many. I don't hang out with sheep and when I stumble across them I am seriously in denial that someone can take the words of MSM as scripture. "Sandy hook was not fake, children died" "how can anyone not see that we need strict gun control after all these tragedies" but so far in response to any statements I just mention 'I have no desire to educate or sway your opinion in any way' 'By the way you should look into the Boston bombing a bit more'. I have a very low tolerance for stupidity which probably doesn't help me but then again these peoples minds are cast in stone, they just don't get it. I can see why they call me a conspiracy nut...

Any poll is only as good as the questions it asks... and I guess the people they ask. Polls = Propaganda IMHO they are all just a method to sway public opinion.

Humans have an inherent need to be a part of the herd... So when a poll shows a high percentage of people voted a certain way many hop on without even looking any deeper in to the topic the poll was about. Its easier to just use group think and go on about your day. That way they protect their cherished delusions and their world goes on.

The pollsters already have the databases telling them who to call to get precisely the results they want. They should do a poll like that in Texas. Hell, in yesterday's primary NINETY-THREE PERCENT of Texas voters* voted for the repeal of the unAffordable deathCare Act repealed.
