Mick Jagger's girlfriend, the fashion designer L'Wren Scott, has been found dead in Manhattan of an apparent suicide, according to law enforcement sources.
Scott, a 6-foot-3 49-year-old former model, was found inside an apartment in Chelsea Monday. She is believed to have hanged herself.
A rep for Jagger said he is shocked and devastated.
According to the Rolling Stones' YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKxBoCSo6T0&list=TL8uiHQ9J9MGsEr3VT0xyeRTrSYhJ8aSwo), the band landed in Australia Sunday to start a new leg of their tour.
Scott, a Utah native, first worked in Paris as a model and then moved to Los Angeles to become a stylist, her website says (http://www.lwrenscott.com/journey.php).
Her first collection launched in 2006, titled "Little Black Dress." She designed the dress that Oprah Winfrey wore (http://www.nbcnewyork.com/blogs/threadny/THREAD-NY-Five-Things-You-Didnt-Know-About-LWren-Scott-123489794.html) for her finale episode.
In a statement, Madonna called Scott's death "a horrible and tragic loss."
