I just saw this tonight on Cryptoarticles. I hope that everyone involved in this is made whole on this. This is just an unfortunate reminder to never store crypto funds on the exchanges. http://www.cryptoarticles.com/crypto-news/2014/3/19/coinex-hacked-again-users-will-be-repaid-from-staffs-own-pocket
CoinEx Hacked Again - Users Will Be Repaid From Staff's Own Pocket (http://www.cryptoarticles.com/crypto-news/2014/3/19/coinex-hacked-again-users-will-be-repaid-from-staffs-own-pocket) March 19, 2014
The news of the day is the fact that the CoinEx (http://coinex.pw/) exchange has been hacked. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time this happened, which might explain most of the outrage from people.
We currently have no exact details on what happened, or why it happened, but that’s not what the CoinEx (http://coinex.pw/) users are all worried about.

Everyone, including myself, wants our money back as soon as possible of course. I’m well aware that keeping funds in an exchange is never smart, and I personally haven’t lost much.

Now, the thing that is making the headlines on all cryptocurrency sites and blogs is the fact that people lost money, and a lot of people are claiming how the owners of CoinEx (http://coinex.pw/) have run off with the money.

Allow me to state the obvious here : they haven’t run with the money, they have been hacked. I know the owner of CoinEx (http://coinex.pw/), Erundook, is one of the most legit people on this planet.

Granted, having your exchange hacked twice, and your wallets emptied as many times as a result of those hacks, isn’t exactly a great track record.

However, the first time CoinEx (http://coinex.pw/) got hacked, all users who lost money have been paid back out of the CoinEx (http://coinex.pw/) staff’s pockets.

Erundook has stated that this will happen this time as well, but it will take time to process all information of who owns what, which is only normal.
We will keep you updated on this story as it develops further. Source: http://www.cryptoarticles.com/crypto-news/2014/3/19/coinex-hacked-again-users-will-be-repaid-from-staffs-own-pocket

I never used CoinEx to trade but I tell myself that it could easily have been Cryptsy, Coinbase, CryptoRush and I keep reminding myself that whatever trade that I plan to do, do it ASAP and withdraw the crypto into my personal wallet. If I know that I am going to execute a trade, what I usually do before depositing a crypto into an exchange is to plan out my trade from one crypto into the other crypto including trading and withdrawal fees. Based on my limited crypto trading that I have done, this has worked for me. If I fail to plan out my trade for that day, then I take more time than normal and that is time that my crypto is on the exchange than I am comfortable with. The only unexpected wrinkle that I have experienced was the trade taking longer than normal and it ends up being an open order until it is completely filled. Once the order is filled, then I withdraw the crypto in my own wallet.
