Come on now... the baby boomers couldnt have been given EVERYTHING, I mean that is way too much right?

It really defies comprehension how much the baby boomers actually consumed.


First off, they inherited a world where US had around 50% of the global GDP. We are half that today.


Not only did they steal from past achievements, but once that ran out they stole from future achievements, in the form of uncontrollable debt.


They consumed at least three generations worth of wealth in one generation. A result of this is that they became complacent and self righteous.

How could a group of people, that have accumulated more collective wealth than any other single group of people, in the recorded history of human civilization mess things up so bad?


That's a tough one to answer but somehow they have managed to bring our entire country to the brink of collapse at a record breaking speed.

How do baby boomers decide who to vote for?

They tend to vote for whoever promises to give them the most money or will make them pay the least amount of taxes.


Boomers could care less about screwing over future generations of people, this is demonstrated by their lack of ability to choose a leader that is more intelligent than a bag of hammers.

How much did the media shape our lives?

I grew up in a time period where all our information came from the TV. We had 3 channels + 2 that were fuzzy. The first form of color TV was a piece of plastic that was sold to stick on your screen...it had blue at the top and green at the bottom and some colors in-between. The TV told America how to live and what you needed to buy. Women were taught to be good mothers and homemakers.

We grew up with very little and most people had the same, but the future was wide open.

Then in the 60's, something happened...the Vietnam war, drugs flooded the country, rebellion, free love, WOMEN's LIB and rock-n-roll. The TV shows started to change...probably when the Jews moved in.

It was a time of abundance and prosperity for a population of mostly unsophisticated people. Anyone that wanted to work, could have a piece of the dream. The consumer was born.

I resent and get tired of reading that "I" as a baby boomer am responsible for the mess we are in.
I repeatedly voted for candidates for public office that said they were going to fix education, balance the budget, stop overseas imperialistic meddling, promote job creation, address the southern border issue, reduce welfare spending, etc, etc, etc.

I have to agree completely with you on this. I know what hard work is. My family didn't have running water when I was small. We didn't have in door plumbing. At 14 years old I was baling alfalfa hay with my father. I loaded the wagons and Dad put the hay in the stack. Some of the hay bales weighed more than I did. I milked the cows and fed the claves and hogs before work every day. I built feneces, and cleaned ditches with a shovel. Everything I have I worked my as off for same as you. Mick,you are 100% right when you say the young people today won't do the work we did. I watched my city cousins grow up with automatic dish washers and televisions, I saw the family values being destroyed by Women's lib free sex and the drug and hippy culture of the 1960's.

And to pit the boomers against the non-boomers is divide and conquer strategy.

There are several schools of thought on this topic. One places blame on the Mouseketeers. Another school places blame on Roosevelt for diving the country into bankruptcy and making it impossible to pay a bill. Still another school places blame on Lincoln's war and the formation of a new irresponsible country in 1868 formed upon a 14th amendment constitution.
