It looks like I have to sell my gold & silver.
What do you all think of selling to Apmex?
Or who would you sell to?
Thanks

Apmex is probably as good as any. You might do better selling it here though. Sorry to hear you need to divest. Life is full of ups and downs. Hope your luck turns better.

Shit happens, I hope you get the most bang for your investment. I had to live for many years off my metals, to get to the age ss would kick in Plus they bought my car.
Good luck in the converting.
Finally getting around to watching the latest bond movie.. Edit: the movie is good, but suckes, think they have finally wore out the gender, or they need new wrighters, but what the hay good run 50 years, and made some huge bucks
this movie the hype and ad's were better. tho, I never count out anything.
Hope you do not lose, some bought high and now if selling it is a loss. Happy to say I sod out and got a good return, metals are safe, but one needs to watch the market. Wish now that I can play, but I can not anymore unless I sell my house and make a radical change with my life style.
Thinking serious about doing that ,
Lets go fishing!
Timing is everything or blind luck.. For me silver bought sorta low, 17 or something, gold was 700 or so.

I sold my stuff and bought a house for cash free and clear. The metals value now is less than when I "had to".
I went to a few local shops over about a month to sell it all for cash. Anything over 5K they don't really like to pay cash for and that's all I wanted. Their prices were actually better than online if you added shipping, insurance and had no clue what the metals price would be when they registered it. Slow but steady FTW.

Prices could certainly be better, especially for silver, and I know it sucks having to sell at this point. But a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.

Spread it between a series of shops, don't take it all to one.

Some people buy and sell on Craigslist. I bought some that way, no problems.

I've sold on CL when I 'had' to, and in the process I found a couple of guys who will pay me spot pretty much anytime I have that need - one of them is always a buyer.

I sold my all silver to survive on this road trip, had bought it at $8/oz in the early 2000 and sold at $48/oz, 2 years or so ago, that was a very good return but nobody should sell unless it is an absolute necessity.

I sold most of mine when it was $34 an ounce. I needed machinery. I then watched it go to almost $50. Timing is usually a matter of luck. When you're down on your luck, it usually isn't the opportune time to sell, but sell you must. My machines have made me money though and who knows, maybe I'll buy it back. Now would be a good time.

That's why I suggest splitting the sale, maybe even by a week or so.

What about taxes? Don't you have to report your sales to the tax man? Can someone please explain to me how that works.
Personally I'd sell at Apmex or the pawn shop down the street.

Did you gain anything, or pay taxes when you purchased it?
Then no, taxes do not apply, never actually do they ever apply to me.

This is exactly why you sell bits and pieces. If you sell 10K to APMEX you will get a tax slip at the end of the year. A little at a time for cash your good.

Just be careful on Craigslist. Once I bought a pre-33 gold half eagle from a guy, and for weeks he kept calling me asking if I wanted to buy more. If you can, leave your phone # out of it, arrange it all through email if possible.

take as long as you can to sell Nomoss. Hit what price peaks you can. I am in same boat although there isn't much left now and I'm underwater on whats left. Dragging it out as long as I can but I'm not getting what I need. sucks but thats where it's at.

Little late, but I would say to sell it here, you're gonna get appresiation points, good karma and the such. I sold all of my silver, and did it at the little coin/jewlrey store that I have been buying from since I got into this, he always gave me very fair, more than fair treatment, would give me spot if he could. Problem was I bought low, 12-18 and sold high 50ish.
Edit, also be VERY careful on Craigslist. Alot of bullshit out there. Like Madfranks said, keep as much personal info out of the equasion as possible. Maybe even create a new email just for the purpose.
