Wow...
"We" - American law enforcement personnel - became the enemy -
* when "We" decided to allow our unions (whatever they are called locally) to be part and parcel of the Democrat Party.
* when "We" decided to allow our (Democrat Party controlled) union leaders to publicy speak in 'our' behalf.
* when "We" decided 'just following orders', in which 'we' acted against civil rights, was acceptable because the alternative was to risk 'our' salaries and benefits. Besides, most of the restrictions didn't directly effect us - or so 'we' thought. (At least 'our' union leaders didn't care.)
* when "We" decided all the above was pure and simple 'right-wing' propaganda.
I worked in the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of California for roughly 36 years. When I retired from federal law enforcement, I escaped the "worker's paradise" and moved to the irrelevant fly-over country. I find the idea a PDSR Cal police officer thinking himself both a victim (of public opinion) AND blameless in the violation of civil rights of citizens is typical, ridiculous, offensive and laughable in a rather sad way - all at once.
Want to NOT be the enemy? Support the Constitution, not the leftist politicians who want to destroy it. It's pretty simple.

For what it's worth it makes me sick. The blank exchanges with other blank minded folks is off the chart. In all I see they are for the most part stupid in world, current, and any other events. They live in a world of cop cars and donut shops and have no interaction with the world in general. Sitting in a cruiser day in and day out might be worse than an assembly line. I will definitely not recommend this type of career.

One of the most viewed threads, is a "how to thread" about letting other off duty LEO's do what they want on the roads.

Yeah, but every day you're out there sitting in your squad car gorging on donuts you think of yourself as a hero protecting people from anarchy. Way cool.

this got me wondering about what rules the LEO follow in the day to day. Basically they follow and make others follow written policy. Most people would assume that policy would be anchored in legislation and possibly ordinances (what ever they are palani).
The guy who runs the LEO service is usually commissioned. The police commissioner for example. A commission is a particular kind of office. I believe it is an office affording the opportunity to exploit the area of jurisdiction for profit. Almost like a letter of marque and reprisal.
Commissioners can issue bylaws. This is the case here in Australia. I had this experience with the post master general. There are statutes regarding postal services and obligations of the PMG. The PMG can issue by laws and does so (or not) to reduce or eliminate the obligation. When you request a copy of the by laws there are none. More than 100 years of the post of PMG and no by laws? By the can't do so and so because of these none existent things.
So point, there might be some other laws that they are operating to and I'd guess it is by laws or what ever pronouncements are called when they come from the head honcho cop. These laws may also be secret or not published. Heck they may not even be written down. Internal affairs will turn up the truth. They may not tell you what that is, but they will find it out.

I didn't find that one, and again it makes me sick what they think. We are subhuman in comparison to them. Prod along in this forum, I am sure there are more winners.
Hey where is 6 fold name changing "hitch"? He was part of the brigade, Lets hear his points... unless he is banned again.

"...you gotta remember, alot of cops work in towns like mayberry rfd. one horse towns where your back up is barney fife. they dont understand the brotherhood because they dont experience the same kind of dangers that we face. they dont depend on each other as much as urban cops do. if you go to any major city like new york, boston, LA, san fran, seattle, detroit, miami, or tampa, professional courtesy applies..."
"...When pulled over, I've always told the guy I was the police right away and never had any problems....Why would I want to waste his time with dancing around the issue? I handed over my license along with my ID card and at the same time said "I'm a policeman, any chance you can give me a break sir?" That inludes OH, TN, KY, GA and FL....They were always cool with me, and didn't act like I'd offended them..."

"Tell me that you are an off duty officer and that you have a gun. Truth is what does it for me. Tell me that you know better because you do the same job,I'll pick up on it. Unless you are grossly negligent in some way, you'll be given a friendly warning and sent on your way."
"Where I worked, just immediately identify yourself as a cop, that's all you need to do. You won't get a lecture that you should know better or anything else. You'll get professional courtesy, just don't throw your weight around."

Most of 'em think of themselves as Boy Scouts* (who get to carry guns and order others around).
*a DPS Trooper I know told me, "Most (LEOs) regard themselves as Boy Scouts."

Thanks for the site. Who knew there was a $350 thermal viewer add-on for an I-Pad. I wonder if they work on Android phones as well.
