PRESS RELEASE
University of Utah Seismograph Stations
Released: March 30, 2014 08:15 AM MDT

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reports that a light earthquake occurred at 06:34 AM on March 30, 2014 (MDT). The epicenter of the magnitude 4.8 shock was located 4 miles north-northeast of Norris Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. This earthquake is part of a series of earthquakes that began in this area on Thursday, March 27. As of 8:15 am today, this series has included at least 25 earthquakes in addition to the main shock, with the largest of magnitude 3.1. The magnitude 4.8 main shock was reported felt in Yellowstone National Park and in the towns of West
Yellowstone and Gardiner, Montana.

Anyone who felt the earthquake is encouraged to fill out a survey form on either the Seismograph stations web site: www.quake.utah.edu or the U.S. Geological Survey web site: earthquake.usgs.gov.

Sunday, 30 March 2014 09:13

March 30, 2014 -- (TRN) -- *** UPDATED *** A magnitude 5.0 earthquake has struck directly inside Yellowstone National Park possibly indicating a pending eruption of the Yellowstone SUPER volcano. As of 12:59 PM EDT, a total of seven earthquakes have now hit Yellowstone and the pattern is sequential clockwise, around the super volcano caldera! It appears the super volcano is "unzipping!"

The earthquake took place at 8:34 AM eastern daylight time at a depth of 4.2 miles. The USGS report is HERE. It was preceded by a Fore-shock of magnitude 3.0 about two hours earlier, around 6:30 AM eastern US time.

Massive harmonics from the quake have been recorded throughout ALL the seismometers within Yellowstone. Multiple after shocks are still occurring as the article is being live-updated. as of 12:59 PM EDT, there have now been a total of SEVEN recorded earthquakes all in the same area in Yellowstone.

It gets better.
NOAA AR 2017 produced two M class flares (M2.0 peak 19:18 UT and M2.6 peak 23:51 UT on March 28). The flares were associated with two halo CMEs, the first one with speeds of 412km/s (first seen by LASCO-C2 at 20:00 UT) and the second one 557 km/s (at 23:58 UT). The combination of these CMEs may arrive to the Earth and cause up to minor storm conditions by 1 April around 05:00 UT.

NOAA AR 2017 released an X1.0 flare with peak at 17:48 UT, there is a CME associated visible in STEREO-COR data, but no LASCO data is available yet. This CME may arrive to the Earth, an estimation of the arrival time will be given as data becomes available.

Could the CME touch off Yellowstone on April 1st or just another April fools?

Stay tuned.
